The Best Player in the deal that has led us to an 8-16 record with him on the floor and is shooting under 40% for 21 points.

I guess if you just want to post your dislike of Melo in every thread eventually everyone is gonna ignore you. Is this even relevant? Thoughtful? Any perspective?

If you don't have anything to add, don't. thanks.

have all joined the team since Melo came here. Chandler, Baron, JR were all FA who specifically cited Melo as a reason they came here. I guess people might want to play with our horrible, selfish jerk of a star? Weird!

minor miracle. without lockout and subsequent amnesty, probably no Chandler, Davis, Lin, JR. Knicks got lucky; no way else to categorize it.

We do indeed have to give out some props. First to Stat, he started the move to NY. Then Melo came and even though that was a tough trade for many reasons, we got superstar imo. (I just hope he comes back around soon - then we have a great chance to win it all, really.)I'll try to be a bit more open with Melo and his play since early in the year. We are a team and we as fans should try to support them as well - but no blind following, that is fair.

Tyson came to play with Stat and Melo. Same could be said for JR though I think he came for the extra money we could offer him (we'll see if he picks up his player option next year!). Novak just fits the system like a glove. Great Great draft with Shump and Jorts, seriously good job front office. Jeffries really helped turn things around.

And Finally, Lin. Boy did we luck out here, the one missing piece to put the before mentioned pieces into play.

This is exactly right. Where are those people now? Only excuse left is that it was luck. Who cares? It was done.

Nuggets are 15-10 with Gallo on the floor. The Knicks are 8-16 with Melo on the floor. Lets hope you are right in the future because the Knicks have Melo for better or worse. If they continue to win at a rate of 37 % when he is on the floor the Knicks picks that went to Houston and Denver will be lottery picks.
My response was to FeltonandAmare. I think it is a bit premature to call the trade lopsided in favor of the Knicks. In fact I think right now the Nuggets have had more success since the trade. I don't think the Knicks are going to be in the lottery but pre-Lin things were very bad.

It's not really an excuse, martin's right - luck definitely played a key role. But I agree, who cares? Bulls fans aren't complaining about getting lucky in the Derrick Rose draft, or Spurs fans about turning a one year David Robinson injury into a decade and a half of Tim Duncan.

I'll take a winner any way we can get it...and we were definitely due for a little luck. Now it's just down to execution.

to be fair, a lot of people knew the lockout and probably amnesty as a result of that lockout were coming. tyson chandler wasn't luck, it was a shrewd move. but, yeah, they did get lucky, a little. but the point is that melo made the knicks a destination team for a lot of guys.

there's no way JR or Davis come here without Melo. And i question whether tyson would have either.

of course, Lin was pure right place right time luck. though i don't think he would have had quite the same breakout on any other team for any other coach/offense.

We did give up too much in the Melo deal. The fact that we replenished our bench does not change that fact. As some people mentioned, the lockout had a huge impact on our fortunes. Due to the amenesty provision, we were able to add Davis and Chandler. J.R. Smith was only available because he went to China and no team that wanted him and that he wanted to go to had more than the lower MLE to sign him. We picked up Lin OFF THE WAIVER WIRE. You don't find top-10 pg guards off the waiver wire. That just does not happen, and we lucked into finding one. So all and all, our bench is the result of a ALOT of luck and some good GM work. If we don't find Lin to make the MDA offense run, this team would be 7-8 games under .500 and everyone here would be calling for MDA's head. I am glad we have Melo, and I wanted him on the team. I just disagreed with what we gave up, and fortunately, it still has worked out for us. But no one could predict the type of luck we have had over the last 6 months.
