The luckiest bastards out there is San Antonio. How the **** do you get 2 1st pick overalls on the years Robinson and Duncan were available.

yup. don't forget they picked up Manu with the last pick of the draft. winning two lotteries when there were can't miss prospects available at number 1 + hitting a grand slam with the last pick in the second round = 4 chips. which made it all the more frustrating every time someone used them as an organization that was "built right." lol.

lol. no way any gm would amnesty their best player who leads the team to the playoffs to get a shot at maybe signing howard.

Not amnesty this past offseason but next. That's is would not have been far fetched at this point.

Signing Billups and amnestying him? Dunno - did not make much sense but I ain't no GM.

What if Stat has continues to go down in steep decline? We are screwed / stuck with him when that 20 mill coulda gone to one of the young superstar studs.

He has 3 more years at $19.9, $21.7, and $23.4 which definitely isn't chimp change. But if we can get 2 more good years out of him we only have to suck it up for one or use him as an expiring.

Whose to say he doesn't get his legs back and start beasting? Sounds like a long shot but if he gets us 14/10 nightly with flashes of 20/10 when we need it then I think the right choice was made.

If he drops below 10/10 and starts coming off the bench or not even playing then I would be worried. We definitely overpaid but nobody was coming here and that was the price to get a legitimate baller to come to MSG. Now things are looking up so overall it was a good investment that will hopefully give us more returns.

I think the STAT death watch is premature. This is a very odd year. He didn't get to do his normal work over the summer due to the Back injury and that can't be underestimated. Look at how Melo has looked as well. Neither player has been at their career levels so far this year. Being in "shape" isn't the same as having top form from a basketball perspective. I know guys that can run marathons, but couldn't compete on the NBA level from neither an athletic standpoint nor skills wise. STAT was in shape for a normal guy, but not NBA ELITE shape BB wise. When you see STAT's build he looks great, but the explosive power isn't there and the sharpness on his jumper isn't there. TO me that's more about the lack of work to get his body up to peak condition and his form on point.

I think STAT will be back next year if he's able to have a normal off season of work. This is more like a recovery year.

Well, they had some luck in bringing the guys together, but they were well-run.

They're a model franchise.

A lesser club could have squandered everything you listed.

picking up Billups' option and then using the amnesty on him actually opened up $4-5M in space because if we didn't pick up his option the buyout would have been $4-5M and would have counted against the cap. essentially Billups had $4-5M guaranteed to him this year. i'm not sure we could have used the amnesty to get rid of the cap hit on his buyout. i was very much puzzled at first that they amnestied a guy who's option they could have declined.

true. luck can be squandered. Knicks still have to manage the team very well now that they have a great core.

We are 17-17 having played on of the easiest schedules in the NBA. Our fortunes are a very big work in progress.

Have you watched Amare try to score or defend this season. We are ****ed btw if this is who he becomes and our team becomes the Atlanta Hawks. Let's keep that in mind before we get excited about Chandler and Lin. We lose Smith and Novak in the offseason for more lucrative offers and keep a nice core of Lin, Melo and Chandler.

We have a one allstar and three max level contracts. Two of which have value. It's too early to be optimistic. We have the makings this year to do some damage, but without a real superstar Wade, LeBron, Dwight, Rose, Durant, Westbrook, Dwill, Paul wr are a 4/5/6 seed.

The fate of this franchise make no mistake runs on Lin's shoulders. The Bulls and Celtics were able to win games without a.point guard and its alarming that max level guys couldn't figure out how to work together and keep us at .500

Rajon Rondo isn't a point guard? If you're talking 80s Celtics, Dennis Johnson was an above average point RIP.

The injury and the infection.

funny how we went from arguably the worst production in the NBA at point to arguably the best productin at the point seemingly overnight
