yeah, if this was a full season with regular rest, i think the record would be much better. losing to the nets on the third game in four nights doesn't bother me much, especially with shump out and deron motivated to show he's no chump.

agreed - MDA has put up with a LOT of crap and has put together two completely different teams in the last two years that have been a lot of fun to watch, with a lot of potential. best part is - there's no big trade to screw things up coming now!

I think the fans that have bashed MDA don't realize how much work it takes to keep building up a new team every few months. That's literally what has happened here. Think about how you'd feel on your job if every time you got midway or more into a project someone came and scrapped it and told you to start over with a different set up parameters??? It's insane how much change there's been. STAT said it already feels like the 3rd team he's been on here in NY!!! How do you think MDA feels. The man deserves a sign of loyalty and respect cuz very few coaches PHIL INCLUDED would've put up with this mess and the lack of respect!!!

i think d'antoni s a good coach. lets remember when he got here he had to deal with all the leftover crap from isiah for two yaers. last yyear we did well then after the trade we had a different team so its hard for a coach. We made the playoffs and if it wasn't for injuries we probably might have beaten boston or at least took them to the limit

I agree, Phil might not have put up with it. And, it probably would not have happened.

What wouldn't have happened? Are you trying to say Phil would've been successful with all the change? Who knows, but I do know that Phil would NEVER have agreed to be part of such a long term rebuilding plan. Only a fool would believe that Phil would've stuck around and taking the blow to his image.

You certainly could make a strong case that in his second year he didn't take on the task to build a new team up. New guys were brought in but they were not played and the coach stuck with the guys that were leaving at the end of the year that he had from November of the previous season.

I think you underestimate MDA's sense of the talent level of the players he had even the young ones. When you have a Summer League, Training Camp and Full Pre Season, you get a much better idea of what the capabilities of your players are. This wasn't like Lin who came in after the season started in a compacted schedule. Go ahead and name the players that MDA failed to develop so we can assess what he was dealing with talent wise!!!

jWe have discussed this a million times and you know the names I would list. My point was that he was not resetting things nearly as often as you claim. After the Randolph/Crawford trades he played the same core group of guys minus Q for about 130 games. The plan was for the team to be totally different at the start of 2010 and he was a part of that so I don't think he is the martyr you make him out to be the first 3 years in NY.

I don't that Phil would not have let moves be made that he did not approve of. He probably would have had the clout to put his foot down. Because he's Phuckin Phil Jaskson!

which is why i think he'll never come here. he knows that he wouldn't actually get his way. not the way he did in LA, dating the owner's daughter.

That's entirely possible. I believe, that PJax or Riley would have the clout to veto. No one else.

How about winning a playoff series and making the second round look competitive..Right now the MVP goes to the front office for bringing Lin and Chandler in..JR and Baron looks like they can help..The front office are the real stars thus far..now is the time for MDA to make the money he was paid the last 3.5 seasons...Get to the playoffs and make noise and we will talk...No doubt in my mind Phil can do it..And I hate Phil..

yeah, because coaching has nothing to do with bringing together a team of strangers on the fly during a compressed season.

so, the coaching staff needs to win a playoffs series, but not the front office?

has anyone noticed a weird thing about this team? they actually like each other and are pulling for each other and sacrificing and playing defense?

no, but, yeah, let's fire our coach and make an ill-fated attempt for phil jackson who will never come here.

So if we get destroyed in the second half and dont make the playoffs or bumped in the first round then who should be held accountable???.. The ball boy??

What front office? MDA told them each and every move to make - oh, besides the bad ones. Those were Melo's fault.

Listen, until this year he had the revolving door excuse. And, maybe that was a valid excuse even though I am sure he had some input in those moves. He has not really proven anything here yet. People also forget that the knicks-nuggets were not playing well prior to the trade and their defensive schemes were putrid in recent years.

He has been doing a good job in the past 10 games (Lin certainly made his life easier (and possibly saved his job), why not see how he does with this team through the playoffs? Why not see how they mesh, if they continue winning or if they even make the playoffs nevermind winning a round? Whats the rush?

Here is his chance to (continue to) make it work. If it all fails, will we be happy we gave him an extension? Will we just then blame Melo? Stat? Maybe even Lin?

Let's see it happen! I have the feeling it will continue to improve, especially with Melo's integration (with MDA's help).

I'll sign this too. It seems like with the way this team is built, nobody can coach this team better than Mike D'Antoni.

BTW, give the players credit for the improved defense. Yes, give Woodson and even MDA some credit but the players are the ones that know how to actually do it and make the commitment. That's something new and it's a breath of fresh air.

“Whenever I’m about to do something, I think ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if they would, I do NOT do that thing.”- Dwight Schrute
annnnd i'll say it: It's time to extend Mike D'Antoni
