Start SHUMPERT or Smith, leaning towards shump for the defense since we have enough scoring in the starting 5 and smith back SG as 6th man. This way we run through teams with no drop off when Lin Amare & Melo sit. Baron backup PG for 15min. Novak battling Fields for SF mins depending on offense/defense matchups. Jeffries battling Novak at PF again depending on matchups. Jorts battling Jeffries at C again depending on matchups. Coaches will have to earn their pay the rest of the way.

Perfect. Wouldn't look into this until next year though. Dont want to disturb Fields confidence.

I was for keeping Fields at starter for this season but this plan is good. Shumpert is going to get the job eventually, whatever happens

Would be interesting to see if Fields can continue at current level as a starter when the Melo mojo returns. You would think those backdoor alley oops would increase with defenses worried about Melo on the wing.

Good question. I'm not sure how Field's new and improved game will affect Melo's, you're right it should be to his benefit. Its also on Fields not to defer and to stay aggressive.

More to the point, if Fields doesn't start, does the nerd pregame handshake thing stop?
Talk about ruining the mojo...

Somethings gotta give over the next year. Prob not this year.

I'd love to see the evolution of both Fields and Shump over the next year and hope both can improve. Each has some glaring weaknesses on a contending team.

Obviously TD out of rotation. And you can't give 4 guys minutes, even if we play some of them at SF.

If we resign JR then you will see the following IMHO

Fields - Continue to start and play both SG and SF
Shump - Backup SG and emergency PG
JR - Backup SG. Might win 6th man of the Year.
Walker - Gone
TD - Gone

Novak will get time at SF.

This sounds about right to me. Thankfully, TD will be jettisoned.

as much as I loathe TD, he can and likely will be more useful that that cardboard cut out of Bibby sitting on our bench. Let him sit, allow that shoulder to heal and NEVER EVER let him handle the ball or even think the words point guard.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

As we have seen as recent as yesterday..MDA is not concern about other teams matchup..he will force you to match his rotation..

Walker and Fields are forwards and Douglas' only job is to hold the Royal...I mean coaches penis. That is the only thing that explains his loyalty to Tony. Then we have Shump.....the guard that loves to shoot but shoots badly.

I love the way he gets at it defensively but, I am glad he has slowed down his shooting spree. The guy was taking shots like he's earning franchise $$.

I think I like the idea of Fields starting and having JR come off the bench and adding firepower. We need a glue guy in the starting five and Fields fits that role. Plus, playing off the bench is an art. I'm not sure Field has it in him to come off the bench and start firing like JR does. As for Shump, his skills are more suited to defensive role player and sparkplug at this point. This is a good, low pressure role for a rookie and I'm hopeful this will help him see the game better when he's out there.

Case in point, throughout the game, it seemed like the only person getting offensive rebounds was Fields. And almost every time in the first half, when the ball was loose, he came up with it.

Glue. Works well between the stars.
