Start SHUMPERT or Smith, leaning towards shump for the defense since we have enough scoring in the starting 5 and smith back SG as 6th man. This way we run through teams with no drop off when Lin Amare & Melo sit. Baron backup PG for 15min. Novak battling Fields for SF mins depending on offense/defense matchups. Jeffries battling Novak at PF again depending on matchups. Jorts battling Jeffries at C again depending on matchups. Coaches will have to earn their pay the rest of the way.
Lock the thread....guns just shut it down
I think I like the idea of Fields starting and having JR come off the bench and adding firepower. We need a glue guy in the starting five and Fields fits that role. Plus, playing off the bench is an art. I'm not sure Field has it in him to come off the bench and start firing like JR does. As for Shump, his skills are more suited to defensive role player and sparkplug at this point. This is a good, low pressure role for a rookie and I'm hopeful this will help him see the game better when he's out there.
Case in point, throughout the game, it seemed like the only person getting offensive rebounds was Fields. And almost every time in the first half, when the ball was loose, he came up with it.
Glue. Works well between the stars.
