Hickson has the lowest value of the two, while they both can really help.
They both have the athleticism, most importantly, the defensive abilities to compliment TC and help relieve some minutes.
There is actually quite a lot of young talent on the Kings, they just don't seem to mesh.
They remind me of a Clippers in the 90s or 2000s, or a recent Wolves till key acquisitions this year.
Hickson will be getting a qualifying offer next year and likely either be extended or traded.
He had a great year last year with the Cavs, when Varaejo went down. He looked like he was going to be a solid PF/C as defensive, hustle player, that will bang, and just work hard with his effort and body.
Thompson looks to finally get it this year, finding a role as a starter at PF or the first BIG off the bench.
He can hit the wide open 12 foot jump shot and just work hard on the boards. His game would compliment TC and help spread the floor better.
However, he has been playing the starting PF, while receiving 20-30+ minutes on the team.
While I totally agree we could use a player of their skill set and caliber, I just cant find a realistic trade to make with Kings 1v1.
I am not sure if we can offer the Kings anything they would actually want or need.
Even if we were wiling to part with our younger players with upside in Iman Shumpert, Fields, Jordan and Jorts.
They have players in all positions already, so they would look to upgrade their talent, and/or acquire more draft picks.
Do we even have draft picks, especially 1st rounders we can trade?
We would probably need a 3rd team to complete a trade.
Memphis is a team that has similar talents in Speights and Cunningham, with Zack Randolph coming back.
