He hit some treys. helped stretch the defense. Had a few drives to th ehoop and one really pretty bounce pass to Tyson for a dunk. Too early to say if he will play within the flow of teh offense or not. The effort was there today. ![]() I don't want that "Swag" thing. Lets be different. Besides, champion teams don't bring that. They let the play speak loud. And What is with that hair thing? A ridge for sunglasses to rest on? I liked his passing and we won. As long as MDA is happy, Im happy! |

![]() You need all the elements. We were missing swag. A little bit of SWAGBALLS is the final ingredient on this team.

![]() Andrew wrote:JR will be deadly on this team if he favors the catch and shoot more. I like his speed, and ability to create. I disagree. It matters who he's on the floor with. With Lin he should mostly be a catch-and-shoot player, but if the ball swings around to him, he should be able to run his own pnrs every now and then. If he is on the floor and Lin on the bench, the offense should run through JR. I don't know if you guys remember this, but Lin hit the bench early in the second. Shumpert took the opportunity to attempt to run the offense, turning the ball over trying to split a hedger and screener, moving the ball away from JR and giving it instead to Novak, who was forced to heave up a contested three-pointer for a brick. JR didn't touch the ball at all and the lead evaporated. Lin was forced back into the game. "LINISH HIM!"

What was he doing out there today? he drained everything in the first quarter. then he went cold and missed most of his outside shots. regardless, he can create his own basket whenever he wants. he put the ball on the floor and made nice passes. even if his three-pointer isn't falling, he is an outside threat that defenses respect. you can't leave him open because he will heat up in a hurry. his defense was stellar, even when matched up against Dirk. He was aware and very active. he has a tendency to be too aggressive and pick up fouls, but that's better than not putting any effort into it at all. chemistry-wise, he was great. i remember him sprinting to pick up jeffries after he fell. he meshed really well. even better, it seems like Smith played the entire fourth quarter. there's no need for Fields to see the floor in the last 6 minutes of a close game. There's isn't much need for Shumpert, either. JR is far more complete than both players. He deserves at least 30 minutes a night off the bench. "LINISH HIM!"

What was he doing out there today? I doubt he will run the offense anytime soon because he will not have had enough practice time in the offense. Also, once Melo comes back the offense will run through him when Lin is off the floor or it will be ran through Davis when Lin is off the floor. However, there will be times when he will run PnRs as the secondary handler just like Shump or Fields have been doing at the two when Lin is doubled or is working off the ball within a possession. |

![]() I think JR Smith is everything that MDA had hoped Billy Walker could be off the bench for the Knicks without the really boneheaded basketball plays.
He is certainly a dynamic player. Perfect off of bench in that role. Shot in the arm for the Knicks. Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

![]() I will have to admit that Smith looked better than I thought. If he buys into team ball, he really upgrades out sg position. I think we really have the most talented roster in the league right now.

I think we really have the most talented roster in the league right now. Imagine that. Wasn't too long ago when most was still crying about stripping our team to bring in Melo. Now, as we stand, not only are we way more talented than last years team, but we have just as much talent as the best in the league. Wow, what a difference a week makes.... |

![]() Maturity?
"The first five minutes were really mind-blowing," Smith said. "The whole time during warmups I was just saying, 'This is crazy.' I'm at the Garden.' I never imagined this in a million years, and to be out there for that first five minutes, the first thing I was thinking was, 'Don't air ball your first shot.' Once I made the first one, that really got me going. "Jeremy was telling me, 'Every time you play this game, don't do anything different. This is how we wanted you and this is why you're here and keep playing your game and we don't mind if you shoot the ball.' And that's what I did. That really helped me." If JR Smith is prepared to play as well as he describes his homecoming, we are in or a treat. once a knick always a knick
