has Novak ever started a brawl in MSG?

Seriously, we now have both of those knuckleheads that started that brawl on our team. WTF?! At least the little man is gone.

Is this a serious question? JR can dribble-drive and create shots for himself and others. He's a spectacular athlete getting out on the break and finishing. He's come up big in huge playoff games in the past. Though he can do it, he doesn't need much help getting off a a shot for himself...

Melo and Amare have thier money. No ego there.

Lin will get his.

Chandler has his.

This is a dog eat dog business and a guy like JR is so talented and he wants that money!

But like the charactor in "Jerry Mcguire" he has to show heart before they "show me the money".

JR is playing for a contact. He does well the team can't afford him next year but JR will be motivated.
No doubt about his talent, its his bone headed attitude and lack of heart.

If anything, its what makes this season even more interesting!

If he wants a big contract next year, he needs to make big plays in the playoffs. Thats where the money is earned and the names are made. He's done it before in the playoffs.

I'm guessing this incident happened early last year and Karl got him in line and he played great after the Melo trade. Don't judge until you see someone for yourself. Remember Spree?

It's a risk, but then again not signing him is a risk too. Chemistry is the toughest thing to get in basketball, and there is that fear that JR could destroy what we have. Then again, maybe we are just on a hot streak and will come back down to earth in the games ahead- at which point we'd be regretting not signing him- same if player start getting injured or if BD can't return.

I'm prepared to give any new player a chance- JR Smith has a reputation, but then again so did Rodman, Rasheed Wallace. Maybe he turns out like Stephen Jackson did when he ended up on the Spurs. I suppose what I'm saying is sometimes a problematic player can land in the right situation, and grow from it and help a team win. This might blow up in our faces, but I'll give him a chance first.

How is he going to act if MDA doesn't play him a lot because others are shooting better and making a better commitment to defense.... as he's working for his contract. Now this isn't one of those seasons where you can so "Oh that's f'ed up, why can't MDA just let him play for a contract?" because we are now fighting to not play the Heat or Celtics or Bulls in the first round of the playoffs. Whoever is playing well will get played and that's how it should be.

Good points.

Fields, Shump, Lin go ice cold in the playoffs we now have someone other than Lin who can create offense. Whereas Amare, Melo & Chandler need someone to create for them

Another creator that can actually shoot the 3 ball at a good clip never hurts.

My guess is this will be handled like every other situation MDA has handled. The players who deserve playing time will get minutes and the players who don't wont get minutes, and this goes for Smith.

At least this is just a 3 month deal so if Smith acts like a jackass, his ars will be cut.

Ditto.

Don't you guys think that the Knicks mgmt have talked with JR about what his role will be; his minutes; his behavior; etc. And probably Melo as well since they played together and Melo "lobbied for Smith."

I guess I am going to have buyers remorse if it turns out Wilson returns early and we could have signed him to the room exception.

hasn't this been answered? Wilson a RFA of Denver. No way they would let him go anywhere else for Min $

I'd also rather have Wilson but I believe he is still a RFA with Denver owning his rights. We wouldn't have a shot at him until next season, and that is if he didn't sign a longer contract.

We are going for a championship so we have to take this chance.

Smith has done some dumb ass things before, but he has never disrupted the Nuggets from winning games.

I'm not worried about JR or any other Knick not doing t=what they are suppose to..The media scrutiny is so intense right now that even Melo, STAT, and BD will fall in line...JR will be fine...We just have to figure out how to win games and what each player will bring to the table...JR will be cool, it's a half year deal..he wants to get paid next year...

I am taking a see what happens approach to him. I really dislike him as a player, but he does bring a needed security blanket for us in case a guard gets hurt or goes cold shooting. I would MUCH rather see JR out there than TD. MUCH!
