Do you think Mike D'Antoni can lead the Knicks to a championship?
Yes, I have complete faith that D'Antoni can coach us to a title.
No, D'Antoni will hold the Knicks back and we need a better head coach to win a title.

it doesn't bother me too much, especially considering the changing roster. Was it frustrating? sure. After that, who cares.

when you give a gourmet cook nothing but hotdogs, powdered egg whites and water and say go, what do you expect?

And if you finally give that cook ingredients to work with and ask what has he done to warrant an extension, you are asking the wrong question.

Good points. But, how do you extend a cook who has yet to prove his worth due to lack of ingredients? Shouldn't he at least need to prove himself this season/playoffs?

It's amazing how the clock keeps getting reset on Antoni. He's been here almost 4 years and it's still unfair to judge him on anything. Although it's never too early to extend his contract apparently.

I guess that's where GM's make their money. Look at whole resume, situation, strengths, this year's playoffs, etc. All of it.

Also take into account who else is out there and know that ANOTHER system will have to be implemented with maybe some different players (current players may not fit).

Critical thinking isn't your strong suit.

you let me know if your new restaurant would want a LOT less than ideal food and ingredients to work with and be judged or if after you had to deal with that circumstance you would want something more to your liking and then be judged.

If I were the chef that was given 2 full years to get my kitchen and staff in order before I received my top quality ingredients, you can bet my kitchen would be firing as soon as those ingredients came in. It wouldn't be almost another 2 years later where I was hoping that some old crabmeat, that might be past their prime (BD), could come in and tie together my pork belly (Amare) and foie gras (Melo) together. Getting a mystery box filled with caviar (Lin) shouldn't have been what saved the restaurant.

If I knew my restaurant needed a specific ingredient before my kitchen could produce the food I wanted, I would make sure I got that first. It wouldn't be an afterthought. I wouldn't be praying that some past their prime ingredient, like BD, would save me.

isles, MDA hasn't had much more than 4 months with 1 competent group of ingredients.

MDA is not GM and coach. He is the coach who has had caca ingredients til last year. And then he had it switched up.

Until 2 weeks ago he didn't get his main ingredient to work with.

I guess the best way to keep your job long term is to have a sh1tty GM that keeps delivering a sh1tty roster

I don't want him fired or extended. I just want him to prove himself through the playoffs and if successful, extend him. Not before!! No GIFTS!

You always want to take circumstance into long term thinking.

No reason to extend MDA until after playoffs. That's reasonable too.

Then we are in agreement Lets hope he succeeds. Every coach needs to get a bit lucky to win - looks like he hit the jackpot. Lets see him ride it.

MDA has been a good coach and had BAD LUCK in some of his playoff series in the past. He easily could've won if he had a few breaks in the past. So maybe he was unlucky and the breaks finally went his way for a change. He already proved himself before. He won titles in Europe and got the WCF's without STAT and with no Center. Dude can coach and whether he gets extended early or after the season doesn't matter.

Man, I don't care what saved the restaurant. So long as we (fans) aren't getting food poisoning from it.
