Watching Shumpert on D is dreamy...he can be Glove 2.0 defensively for sure. That strip of Calderon and dunk was Linsane!

Shumpert on d is a great weapon in the backcourt for the Knicks. Also in regards to the Glove, Greg Anthony or C-Webb said Lin worked out with him in the summer.

Shumpert and Lin - basically both rookies - playing like one of the best backcourt tandems in the league right now.

Yup - great move to put Shump on calderon at the end of the game. Also nice that the refs let him play. Sometimes they call it too chippy.

Or if he could finish a slam dunk!

That's what I just said.

You didn't say slam dunk. Specifically we need the dunk.

Fun with semantics.....

No. He has been missing slams, specifically slams, all year. You can finish in my ways, what we need is the slams.

It took Gary Payton 3 or 4 years before he became a really effective offensive player, so there's hope for Shumpert. He just needs to keep working on it.

I see a ton of Payton in Shumpert in terms of approach and on court personality. It really comes down to that agressive mentality.

Payton had a very, very rough looking shot, but he worked at it. I think Shumpert is erratic, but his mechanics looked good earlier in the year. It will come around. Doesn't look like Shump is gonna play point like GP, but I still see him being a lock down defender in that mold.

Wow, absolutely amazing. Maybe he still gets to the rookie game, as he is the best rookie defender. Rubio might get more steals but is no where near the defender.

He might be one of the best defensive guards in the league. Has a rookie ever made the All Defensive Team? Can't see him beating out Rondo/Paul/Wade.

What a weapon to have for the playoffs!!!! I'm soo fired up

Shump's steal late in the fourth won us the game. Had Toronto scored on that possession, we were 7 down. Instead, we were only 3 down.

Shumpert needs to finish better at everything. He hasn't been able to do that consistently all season.

At this point, I'm thinking of Shump as more of a John Starks, early in his career. Starks could shut down PGs and SGs earlier in his career and had that streaky shot going. The one thing I'd like to see Shump do is drill it in his head that he's not going to settle for the J unless the D gives him enough time to square up and shoot. Even if Shump misses going to the rim, I'd rather see him put pressure on the opposing D. Shump needs to look at tapes of DWade and emulate his way of attacking the rim.

That was the play of the game. Don't get me wrong, Lins shot was great but the game was tied.

his pick and dunk stunned the Raptors and they unraveled at that point.

The kid is not starks. He is far younger with a much better handle and pull up shot. His physical attributes Are higher.

He is a bit like Westbrook.

I think we need to use Shumpert on the other team's best guard regardless of who is playing him.

Shumpert will get a lot more votes as a ROY candidate particularly if he leads the league in steals and has a breakout game. It would be also imperative for him to be able to steal a rookie/soph challenge spot, perhaps for the injured Marshon Brooks, to gain Shump-brand visibility.

Shump is not the player I thought he was going to be earlier in the season- but I mean that in a good way. At the start of the season I thought he was going to be a flashy, nate robinson type of player who'd be very inconsistant and jack up too many shots, but since that memphis game he's really quietened down, got serious and kept his shots down. He's really impressed me at how focused and serious he is about learning and improving his game- can't wait to see how he develops over the years.
