Too many minutes for Jefferies in both proposed scenarios. Jorts and Davis will need 15-20 minutes when ready. Take minutes from JJ, Walker and Novak for this. Shump's minutes should not go down much.

Lin

Baron Davis 18 minutes
Fields backup shooting guard/ small forward
Jorts backup center
Jeffries backup power forward defense
Novak backup power forward offense

I think all 10 guys have talents that allow them to make contributions to our team in the playoffs.

I like this alot although I wouldnt take out Landry for Shump, we need some consistency with our starters even though we all know Shump will probably be closing games due to his defense and scoring ability. You wont wanna disrupt Landry's game.

Tyson - 32
Amare - 32
Melo - 32
Fields - 29
Lin - 35

Shumpert - 20
Jeffries - 25
Novak - 20
Walker - 15

When Jorts come back then shave 2 mins off each Tyson, Amare, Novak, Jeffries and 1min from Melo to give him 9 min.

This will keep everybody fresh. If Walker struggles then give some of his min to Shumpert and/or Fields.

Much better solution to save Amar'es knees and keep the reserves ready for the playoffs wars.

I agree. In fact, I wouldn't mind if Stat's minutes were dropped to 30 minutes a game, like Pop does with Tim Duncan. This season is especially grueling and we need to protect our investment.

I am a huge Landry Fields fan. He is the ultimately team guy. If you start Shump, Landry will embrace his new role, and work even harder on improving his game so that he can become even more valuable to the Knicks. He is on record as saying that the team winning is much more important than the number of points he scores or whether he starts or not. Have you noticed that he has lately been improving his passing technique and getting more assists? I think maybe he is getting private passing lessons from Lin, or maybe he is just watching what Lin does very carefully and practicing by himself.

Where does JR Smith Fit into all of this.

Judging by reports knicks might be atop the list.

With Baron Davis soon to return (he could play some at the 2), where does he get his minutes?

I don't see we'd have the money to resign him next season, and Shump at the 2 is pretty much where he'll be.

I can see Shump as our starting 2 and Fields off the bench in the future at the 2 or 3.

The schedule needs to be taken into consideration 8 man rotation would take its toll on the players. To many back to back games.

Briggs,

Its your thread, so what do you think about Shumpert instead of Fields, first in the fourth quarter, and then perhaps later, to start?
