Lin would be wise to wait until the coaching situation is sorted out before signing a contract.

What works with MDA might not fly with other teams.

MDA might have designs to leave anyway. THere are better owners to coach under.

i was trying to mull over money vs continuity vs family vs opportunity (of stable team) vs organization etc from MDA's perspective. if you in his shoes what would you want if you were to stay?

I would guess that Knicks would offer 2 year deal and MDA would probably demand 3.

3 year deal with an opt out after 1 year but lower pay in year 1. If team goes deep into playoffs next season then big increase in payment and some sort of condition on continuity meaning no roster overhaul.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

MDA has spent a long time trying to put a team together built with the right kind of players. Then he miraculously stumbles into point guard that is perhaps a once in a lifetime find. There is no other place in the league that MBA can go to, which is more ready to play basketball as he likes to see it played than NY. MDA's strong desire to stay with the Knicks, may not result in MDA having to settle for 2 years, because Dolan is clueless as a negotiator. Particularly if Jeremy Lin ends up not wanting to stay with the knicks unless MDA is resigned, MDA will get the 3 years you have suggested he will want. Of course it would help a lot, if the Knicks win at least one series in the playoffs as well.

I was thinking doom and gloom, but I suspect if the Knicks have a solid playoff run MDA can do whatever he wants and will get whatever he wants. If the Knicks go to the ECF (I predicted they would before the start of the year) MDA will and should get a 4 year extension.

And if your MDA why not? You have your P&R point guard you covet, a nice mix of young players to go with a star frontcourt. Why would he leave?

Winning breeds good habits and stability. Its been so long but trust me... this is how normal teams operate.

I'm pretty sure this was posted before, but we're safe with the Big Bang Theory Backcourt. Fields and Lin will be the starting backcourt next year, if they don't use their MLE on any free agents this summer like Nash for instance.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7583558/nba-how-new-york-knicks-keep-jeremy-lin

So as far as Lin and Fields are concerned, the Knicks are safe. They won't be able to go out and sign a new player with their mid-level exception, so any plans to lure a free agent like Steve Nash to New York are now moot. But the Knicks will be able to keep Lin and Fields safely in the fold. This Linconceivable story can continue its run on Broadway.

So now it's time to go out and Lin one for the Gipper.

never considered it, but the elements are all diverse enough. female fronted prog metal + avant garde jazz + hip hop = could be awesome.

All we need is a modest $100,000 budget for rehearsal, recording, and "research"

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.
