Yes he was an offensive black hole last year as well... Is your memory so short that you forget the losing record since he came over and a sweep by the ancient celtics? If he's such a great athlete and an elite player why the heck can't he learn to play defense?

clearly no one is going to change your mind to any of this so whats your point?

Kenton was Lebron* iPhone autocorrect and I'm a firs time poster to everyone saying I have different handles... Do you see me backing down from the argument so why would I need a new handle?

My point is that teams win titles by fitting the proper pieces together to compliment one another is how you get things done. Jordan was great because he could make anyone better... He trusted paxson, Kerr, Armstrong, to take the big shot when needed. He preached defense and led by example; lifting his team to countless titles. Bill Russell and Magic were the same. Melo, while an amazing talent, will never bring us anywhere until he learns to make those around him better. Do you think he's willing o change his entire game up to do that? I don't.

Melo isn't going anywhere. I'm watching Walker jack up jumpers that Melo would be draining. If you watched any of the Nets game Melo hit Lin 4-5 times with wide open jumpers. Just the presence of Melo makes players better. Especially when he doesn't have the burden of running the team.

well to be honest lin is making them better since he is doing it with a depleted roster so lin could make melo better

Melo doesn't need to be Jordan, and he doesn't need to change his game. He needs to change his role, which I don't see nearly as much of an issue as some people believe. He won't need to orchestrate the offense anymore. Lin starts it, Melo can finish.

I think it'll work both ways. Teams are starting to pack the paint with Lin as our main gun. Throw Melo and Amar'e back onto the court and Jeremy's going to have some open lanes. Likewise, getting those two the ball at the right times in the right spots is going to make their jobs MUCH easier.

No one's gonna trade something valuable for Melo right now. He's had surgeries and tons of injuries in the past year and is not playing well.

It's called making a reference with the best player to ever play the game... Knicks fan or not if you can't respect what Jordan broughtto the game you're not a true basketball fan period... I may have hated it every time the Knicks faced him but I was always in awe of his talent. I'll always he proud of the fact that I can say I saw Jordan play. Even if it was at the peril of the Knicks.

Lets see how he fits in with the team. He's going to have to rely on moving without the ball a lot more if he wants to fit in this offense. He's also going to have to stop holding onto the ball for so much. We are going to start losing games like that again because even though Melo does it a lot doesn't mean he's actually good at it. He's not an efficient one on one scorer.

we have to keep the ball moving i mean if that means melo has less touches so be it.

I'm excited about getting those two guys back and I'm excited about the possibilities of where we can go," he said. "We should only get better from here. Guys will have to bend a little bit and we'll bend toward them. We see the light." Mike D'Antoni. Straight fromt he coaches mouth.

All year, we've all been in agreement that we need a facilitator to help mesh the pieces together. How about we let them play toegther first and see how they can compliment each other now that we have a distributor. Does Melo have to bend his game a little? Absolutely, but so does the entire team and coach, including Lin who wont have to jack-up 23+ shots once Melo and Stat return. This is the most potential we've had since the '99 team. Lets give it a chance.

I agree except that melo has to be the one to buy in. I mean everyone has been on board the last week now melo ahs to prove it. Just the truth. I think he can do it but he does have to sacrifice jacking up 30 shots per night. also lin doesn't jack up shots all teh time but he is shooting a good fg perecentage. last night he was exhausted and getting killed so his secodn half was a little off. But lin still needs to eb able to score because thats a part of his game he can break down the defense to score or dish out

Basically I'm in the middle of this issue. I'm not a big Melo fan because of the same issues that bother others here - needing the ball and holding the ball. But just in the chance that he'll finally buy into Linsanity and be inspired to play team offense, I want to wait a little and see. Because, if he does get with the new program, the Knicks will be dominating.

The Knicks just need to get some practice and games together so that they can get the chemistry going with everyone back. There's no sense in basically trashing everything they've built to start over again. We have less to do right now in order to get this team clicking on a higher level. We know that STAT and Melo are better than Jared and Walker offensively. That just makes Lin's job even easier and makes our bench stronger. We don't need anymore trades. We caught the break of a lifetime with Lin.

Every team needs a few players that can create their own shots. Lin, Melo and Shump are our guys. I'm VERY pleased with this development. I think that puts us over the top when they all get going. Before Lin all we had to hang on to was Baron and his iffy back. Now we have a young strong player that can take the rigors of the PG spot and Baron is a plus if he gets his game back!!!

So now we need to trade Melo and Tyson? The Howard will come here and start whining about too much pressur or not touching the ball 60% of he time and you will do what then? Trade him for the next name that catches your fancy? Fantasy basketball was like the dumbest thing ever invented this thread is proof of that.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
