Keep getting better as a team, fire Dantoni.

If D'Antoni goes, Lin likely goes, too. You realize this, right?

No.

You're so smart, JrZy.

Truly, brilliant. An amazing individual.

How can you not be a fan of talent and hardwork triumphing?

I'm definitely happy for the Asian-American community. I think that's great.

The toher day when I compared Lin's hype to Tebow's, this is what I meant. Yao Ming had an insane amount of supporters... that's a huge base for Lin to tap

As for basketball, his crossover is super exaggerated and I'm really pumped to see how he does with Rubio. Rubio is a pickpocket and if there was ever a crossover to steal, it would seem to be Lin's. BUT he's made some good NBA players look foolish so maybe he sets it up great.

I don't know, this Lin thing defies convention

The Lin fanbase not only includes Asians and Asian Americans. Lin is probably a big favorite among Harvard alumnae.

He also has the underdog story going for him - an 'ordinary' person amongst the super stars of the NBA.

This is true and I think it is not just Harvard but Lin is also a big favorite with the Ivy League crowd.

Glad the coach finally got a PG to work with here. MDA + a good PG + a good PG = a whole lotta hope. Maybe we finally have our mix here after like 100 tries

Well part of the Asian community has been suffering with you longer than you know.

Jeremy Lin will open the floodgate for a new pool of talent to be found in Ivy-Leaguers and Asian-Americans that could be had for a fraction of the cost that the "typical" NBA prospect or 3rd-year player will command.

Agree, this is like the Anti-Knicks of the last decade. Guess curses and misfortune can't last forever. Hope Lin is here to stay.

My brother is Asian and a Harvard Alum. Needless to say he's really getting back into the Knicks.

Two of the ppl & work with in grad school are Taiwanese and they were talking about him on Monday before I had a chance to mention him! They were like the Taiwanese media are going crazy over him and they're broadcasting the games over there and they're having viewing parties etc.
It's pretty nice when you're an immigrant kid to have someone from your country achieve some sort of positive fame. It gives you someone to relate to.

What I find interesting is how the media at first were a little confused whether to refer to him as a Chinese American or a Taiwanese American and have settled into Asian American to not have to deal with it or make the distinction. I guess when things are good, everyone wants to claim their stake :)

CHINA HAS A LIN PROBLEM
Sure, there’s Jeremy Lin Fever in Asia. But is the Knicks new superstar a problematic poster child for the Chinese government? “Linsanity” has taken hold in China where his ”jerseys have sold out, even including the counterfeit ones”, according to The New York Times. The paper traces Lin’s ancestral home to Jiaxing, a city on the northeastern outskirts of Hangzhou where Lin’s maternal grandmother grew up. Lin’s following on Weibo, China’s Twitter-like microblog, has exploded to more than a million fans. But official Chinese media have been notably quiet. Gloria RIVIERA notes there are signs that his Taiwanese background and devout Christianity sit uncomfortably with government censors. On Wednesday morning, the sports channel of CCTV ran a taped Champions League football match instead of a live broadcast of Lin steering the Knicks to victory. Chinese fans have been asking why CCTV has not shown his games. Online forums are awash with speculation that the Taiwanese flags waved by some of his fans are the impediment. China considers Taiwan a breakaway province and rejects any displays of Taiwanese independence. As Gloria puts it, “Lin is an interesting story here for two reasons beyond his talent on the court: his ancestry and his faith.” NYTimes: “Lin is commonly described as Taiwanese-American because his parents grew up in Taiwan before moving to the states, where Lin was born. But mainland China is already starting to claim him as his own, part of an incessant rivalry across the Taiwan Strait.” Also on Weibo are several comparisons not to Yao Ming but Tim Tebow for their shared Christian faith. ”You are the miracle, you are the God, Jesus is with you!” wrote one today. Christians suffer from religious prosecution here, but Lin is giving them a new reason to praise God.
