Yeah. Much better fit. He truly is a ball stopper. I thought that would end but sadly it hasnt.

I remember when the Nets made that deal, I was thinking "where the hell were the Knicks on this??". It kind of came out of nowhere. And it's a position we needed like a starving man in the desert needs beer.

why didn't you remember that Utah was waiting to see which team didn't get Melo and THEN they would start negotiating?

Is that what happened? I don't know then.

It's hard to win a championship when your best player is a PG and you lack an elite scorer on the wing who can take over at any given time. Stoudemire is a possibility if he can't pick it up, but again i am committed to the team we have. You still don't trade big for small unless the talent difference is huge and i'm not sure it is. Plus, i would much rather have Melo, Stat, and Nash as a FA this summer than Williams, Melo, and some replacement attempt.

If a Amare for Dwill trades does go down. If your GM you have to call orlando and offer Melo and see what they say.

I think that would be the best offer Orlando would get. Melo > Bynum.

Amare for Deron Willams.

Melo for Howard.

Chandler and Shumpert for Monte Ellis.

Ellis
Williams
Howard

Great young fast team to build around.

and Jorts for D Rose while we are at it :-)

Ellis
Williams
Howard
Rose

not bad!

Balkman for Lebron and Wade I say. But half the board would scream murder and point out how we would be getting raped on that trade.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Howard doesn't't like cold weather

then why is Nets one of his chosen destinations?

I have no idea, it makes no sense to me either.

I think it has to do with your assumption about Howard and cold weather, which is probably not correct.

I was referring to one of his quotes from last year.

I'm not sure how many years Stat has where he can stay healthy and keep putting up the same numbers. At least with Williams we would be getting an all star PG in his prime who along with Melo could keep this squad contending for years to come, provided we get some quality low post help. The only thing is that the Knicks would need a coach with the stature to call him (and Melo) out, and the only one who could keep Deron in check if the Knicks hit a rough patch I'm guessing is Phil Jackson.

I haven't heard any complaints from the Nets but the glare of the lights are much brighter at MSG. Sloan was a hall of fame coach and he couldn't deal with him. If D'antoni gets his contract renewed I'd pass and hope Davis works out or we get Nash in the summer.

Is there EVER a player who does NOT have the Knicks on their wish list?

Grand Hill had us on the wish list twice and what happened...

Well one thing we know for sure, D Will is sick in a PnR. But so is Nash, perhaps even better.

Yep, normally I wouldn't buy it, but now that we actually have some all star talent on this squad the prospect of Williams joining the Knicks doesn't seem so far fetched.

I don't think the Nets would trade with the Knicks but if they did I think they would want Melo. Amare's uninsured contract is a huge risk and they might think they could do better with the cap space.

Good point about the insurance, forgot about that. I'd pass on trading Melo for him.

The nets don't have a choice. Beside dirk the mavs don't have any body worth while or even marketable enough. The Lakers would have to trade Bynum but they are holding out for Howard. Bynum isn't exactly a big name that would say "The nets are back " and is more injury prone than Amare. Amare is that big name the nets would need to restart a franchise in a new city. With Amare they could introduce him the same way we did. You guys seem to love him. Maybe you could go be Brooklyn fans if we trade him there. Now the nets don't lose Williams for nothing and get a highly marketable player who could attract some free agents that may not be super stars but none the less would improve their team(Felton? Chandler?). Now we get a point guard. We don't trade Melo we tell him he is off limits and we hold the cards cause Deron said his list is only 3 teams long. Us being at the top of the list. If we get Deron we have to call Orlando offering them Melo. That's better than any offer that LA could make and Dwight would come to NY to play with DWILL. Only other team that could challenge us for Dwight would be the clippers but that would take Blake Griffin and he has more potential than dwight and would be stupid.

I thought Amar'e was untouchable. His "Knicks are back" was poised to be the start of a great story for us.

It has all come crashing down and right now I couldn't care less about them. Trade Amar'e and anybody else necessary for Deron.

I literally doubt Jersey would even entertain Amare for Deron. If I'm the Knicks I trade Amare so quick.... his lack of explosiveness is frightening.

The only way I see Amare traded at this point is if Davis runs the offense well enough to show that Stat still has something left in him. I don't expect miracles, just hopefully enough of an improvement to garner some interest from other teams. It would be great to trade him for a traditional post player if Deron isn't doable.
