+1
But if you back up a little further, the problem is when we had a team full of role players, and we were scoring as well as any top team in the league. But we lacked the defensive stops that most top teams have. So what we do to fix our defense? Trade away our starting unit (with 3 legit 2 way defensive players), for melo who's a legit OFFENSIVE nba star. Did this fix our defensive problem? No....and to make matters worst, it actually depleted our offensive depth.
I rather have a great offensive team, with 3 or more two way defensive players....Than a great offensive player, and 1 two way defensive player.
I blame this all on Dolan for rushing that Melo trade. We didn't have to give up so much for him. And if we had lost him to NJ, sure everybody would be killing Walsh for a few months, until they see Melo doing exactly what he's doing for us. While the Knicks win loss record would've only gotten better, similar to Denver now, along with Randloph and Lee who's killing.
I never liked that Melo trade, because it wasn't a Walsh type trade.......I was really hoping for the best, but as it turns out, my gut feeling was right. Melo and Stat are similar players, with similar sweet spots on the floor. Chandler also has similar spots under the rim. So basically, our three stars shine the most near the basket. Fellas, last time I checked, there isn't room for 3 post players in the paint. I don't care who runs the point.
Whats the result, Melo shooting long jumpers, with Iso plays. Stat talking about he's starting to shoot 3 pointers now. Both guys are playing out of their sweet spots. Chandler not getting the pick and rolls like he used to, so he's out of his sweet spot. All three so called super stars have similar sweet spots in the post. When their jumper isn't hitting, they all go to the same spots.....
Solution....Either Melo or Stat or both have to either reduce their salary, so one of them can play off the bench, and we can pickup a point guard. Or trade one of them.....So we can have a balanced team. I can't see paying someone 20 mil, to come off the bench.
Chandler and Melo works.....Chandler and Stat works.....But having all three is COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE. Then add in the coach. We are a disfuctional group of high priced stars....Stat and Melo are now 1 on 1 ISO forwards....Realy? what a waste of talent. Chandler is the best pick and roll guy.....But with Melo down low, and Stat playing bully ball at the rim....Theres no room for Chandler's Lobs.....I don't care what PG we get. All three can not play together successfully.....UNLESS....Melo or Stat catches fire.....Thats terrible offense. I don't blame
, or Walsh..............I blame Dolan! It's like buying the best buckets of paint in the world, and think the colors will automatically blend......Dolan this isn't fanatasy basketball....basketball is a team sport....you are the worst!
Why you think the US started losing in the Olympics? It's the same reasons....with the same coach! Can't just put TODAYS STARS together and expect them to win. Todays stars are more individually talented, but lacks team basketball IQ.
