Could not agree more. Chandler is an obvious and proven benefit against the Heat. Strong lead guard play is essential to beating them.
Chris Bosh was on PTI a week or so ago, and he was talking about their offense. He said what they try to avoid 'set plays', the traditional halfcourt sets, essentially. They practice on forcing their tempo and disallowing their opposition a chance to run their routines, and they practice being able to anticipate how they'll break.
Strong point play is a great counterbalance because that's a way for the Heat's opposition to dictate their pace.
i think the Heat could use some more set plays. their plan on offense still seems to essentially be to have Bron or Wade crash the lane and hope something good happens.
Bron's supposed post game looks rushed and sloppy - at least with a huge center coming over for a block.
but, yeah, i agree that having a real lead guard allows a team to install their pace against the heat. it's also the position on the floor the Heat are defensively weakest against. i've never been impressed by Chalmers.
also, for all the people who don't like melo's iso game: A) it is MUCH more effective in late game scenarios than whatever it is Bron and Wade do and B) it is another thing that allows the Knicks to force the pace. Having Melo on the wing... i feel like it's the closest thing this team has had to an offensive sure thing since Ewing. people complained about Pat, too, but man it's nice to have a guy who can get a bucket when the game gets tight.
first knicks/heat game is gonna be great.
