What I liked about the Tyson move was how quickly management read the situation (no CP3, no Deron Williams, no Dwight Howard) and realised that there were no real unrestriced FA's of value next offseason- and somehow managed to get Tyson Chandler instead. If we hadn't of done this move, we would have been screwed- no BD, a Billups who'd leave after this season, cap room but no good FA's to sign, and no center.

But it could never happen

This is a little rosy colored. And I don't know that Tyson comes here without Amar'e and Melo. He clearly stated that it was the opportunity to play with Stat and Melo that intrigued him about NY. And DLee was traded FOR Anthony Randolph. And Jeffries was an Isiah move - he only came back here on the cheap because he liked D'Antoni.

In the end, Donnie had a choice between Mark Jackson and D'Antoni and chose MDA.

I also really don't know if that team last year would have come together at all without Amar'e playing at an MVP level for at least the first half of the year.

I really do give them credit, starting with Isiah, who is obviously the mastermind behind it all.

I agree - it was a quick read and a total course change that we rarely see in NY. I loved it from a basketball perspective, but also from the perspective of letting go of unrealistic dreams.

Sounds better than saying he came here for the money! Maybe what he said was genuine. We'll never know.

There was a rumor Golden State offered him $60M. Supposedly he signed with the Knicks for $58M. So maybe he left money on the table. we'll never know.

Well it could still be coming here for the money. He may have simply considered going to either one of those two teams for the money. I'm sure he didn't consider teams that might have been desirable but could offer only the MLE.

Didn't know where to put this but we have to thank Management for getting rid of Billups also...He looks terrible. Baron Davis game is much better suited for this team. At least he penetrates. Billups is just chucking away in this Heat-Clippers matchup.

Yea I was never enamored with Billups game. Great FT shooter, great leader sure. Plodding guard, slow as hell, liability on defense Hell yes!

Walsh's original plan was to play CB next to Iman and let CB play SG a lot more like he does in LAC! I do feel Davis is a better match for this offense tho!

Not looking too great as a SG right now. Shooting 37% so far this season.

I honestly would have traded Billups for Baron straight up. To work the cap so that we got Tyson too was just genius.

Billups is playing SG for the Clippers.

I wonder if they had Davis in mind when they amnestied Billups. Or maybe it was dumb luck lol Davis is a much better fit for the Knicks than Billups ever was and he is much younger!

Davis is 32 years old and has a history of injuries. He's not young or able to be depended on at this point in his career.

I know he's old. He's overweight. Injury Prone etc...but everytime I think of Baron Davis and the word "playoffs" I think of this

yeah, one of the luckier off-seasons the knicks have had in years. really, if you think about it they potentially got three starters for $14M in cap space and a mid-first round pick.
