Just because you're despairing it doesn't alter reality- it is still practically pre-season, and it has only been THREE games. These games are awful to watch- we look beyond terrible, and it p***es me off watching this crap, but you can't take stuff out of context.

Plus, what's with the collective amnesia?! We were panicking about the same stuff at the start of last season, that Felton was the wrong PG, he and Stat had no chemistry, the offense looked terrible, etc etc etc, it took weeks to get rolling. Then exactly the same thing happened after the Melo trade. Now you're acting like everything should be fine after 3 games, a prolonged lockout, a shortened training camp and 2 preseason games?! Do you realise we have
EIGHT new players?

Look, I will give them some time. But at this point I am not a fan of Carmelo Anthony on the Knicks.

I don't think he gets or wants to get what Mike D'Antoni is trying to bring to the table.

He will get the ball and everyone else will stand around. Why do they stand? Is it because they know that the ball does not come out of Melo's hands?

Since Isiah was fired, there have been two points where the team was fun to watch: the first month of the first D'Antoni season, with Jamal and ZBo; and then again last season with Felton, Gallinari, and Amar'e.

At those two points the players bought into the system, they carried out what the coach designed.

Now, we have Carmelo Anthony.

May as well face facts. Changing an entire roster without a training camp is a dangerous game. Losing the versatile Shumpert makes the backcourt an audition.

There is no time for more change and Baron Davis is not walking through that door anytime soon. Even IF Davis is ready by Valsntines Day, the adjustment bureau on the sidines has never workday together either. The zhotgun wedding od d'antoni and Woodson is as new as Kim and Chris.

So what does this all mean boys and girls?

1. The drama in Knicks land is just starting and leaders must step forward to keep the ship afloat

2. The natives are restless and the headline writers are smiling. The Kncks worst enemy has been, is and always will be, impatience.

3. "dese guys don't to nuttin da easy way"

4. Somebody needs to tell Amare to stop forcing shots and dribbling in traffic

5. Carmelo is not the problem

6. Jordan - Harrellson - Novak - Fields - Lin. Red Holzman would have enforced the prime directive. "You Suck. You Sit"

once a knick always a knick

Cut the crap...you never wanted to the do the trade in the first place. How about we live in the present and move forward. BTW, undo the trade and we're 0-3...No way we beat Boston with the old lineup....

I see his point though.

Anyway, on a positive note, if this continues for a while it is probable that D'Antoni is out. AND, there would be a chance we could trade Stat somehow with someone for D Howard.

It might be a long year getting two iso players to play with rhythem together. Not saying it can't happen, just saying. I'll pull for this team regardless.

Maybe Orlando will take Amare since he is from the area just maybe. I wouldn't gut the team though by give up more than Amare, Fields & TD draft picks

Man that's some garbage. When has he had an ideal roster here for his style of BB? He's changed to fit with what he has and for the most part this team has been a top offensive team every year!!! Go look at the stats for the last few years and it's clear that MDA can coach offense. The biggest issue was always DEFENSE and not offense. Come on people let's not start the witch hunt crap this year. There will be plenty of time to burn MDA at the stake, but this is just ridiculous.

Too late. The witch hunt started years ago. It doesn't matter what happens with roster changes, injuries, mismatched players etc lets just blame the coach for not making "adjustments". You have HOF caliber players who get stranded while executing the simplest things in basketball but the coach needs to "adapt". He needs to "design plays" for a team that routinely fails to execute a pick and roll. People need a scapegoat when they are frustrated. Right now every one is frustrated. The coach is easy pickings, and because he is a professional who never whines about the roster or bitches about unrealistic expectations no one ever hears the other side of the story.

Right now TD is my scapegoat, MDA is Crushalot and a bunch of other guy's scapegoat, STAT is crzymdups', the Melo Trade and hence Walsh is Nalod and Bonn's scapegoat. - eh we fans are an emotional bunch. Everyone needs a scapegoat. We are helpless to influence the outcome in anyway so we channel our frustrations towards whatever target is exposed by our own unique rationale.

Everyone needs a scapegoat.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

This isn't taking anything out of context. Everytime things like this happen, we get the "too early to worry" and the "need a change because this ain't working".

The truth is in the middle.

Of course this team needs more time and they will have it like it or not. Will it be late for them? Depends if even with their issues they can still get the W (exactly like against the Celts, where pe played bad too but found a way to win). In the end, this is all about W's and if you don't get them, you lose time because you won't be playing in the playoffs.

I believe its early to say the sky is falling and this is a lost season. Thats why this post isn't about that. But I believe this isn't only because of being only 3 games into the season. The lack of PG play has to do with personnel and injuries. The importance of a PG, in the sense that without one we are a complete mess, is on the gameplan. The lack of discipline and effort on defense is on the players and also in the gameplan.

We have issues deeper than "its too early". If we can't find a way to get better PG play soon, results like yesterday will repeat. If we can't find way to play solid defense even without a good PG running the offense, we are in deep trouble. It may help the mind to say this is still pre-season, but it wont chnge the resuts when wins and losses are counted and teams advance and don't.

Whatever we do to solve this, has to happen fast.

The team isn't built for D'Antoni's preferred style. They have two guys that hold the ball when they get it on offense, no point guard and a defensive center. I think the team can be good but it isn't set up for the style of play D'Antoni has used when he was successful in the past. The question is does he continue to try and make them fit into a style that doesn't suit them or does he adapt. There were way too many offensive possesions last night where the Knicks had two guys in the corner, two guys on the elbows and either Amare or Melo attempting to go one on one.

Guys wouldn;t hold the ball if we had a downhill, penetrating pg. Once the pg gets into the lane and collapses the defense, he can either kick it out for an open look, drop it off to someone cutting in fromt he baseline or hit the roller off the pick and roll. The offensive player receiving the pass from the pg wont have a choice but to shoot and it will be a high percentage shot. Not sure why its hard for people to understand that this offense needs a penetrating/passing pg who can push it in transition....It will make a huge difference. This team will look like night and day....

Melo has always held the ball. To lesser extent so has Amare. I agree that they need a point guard but this is Glen Grunwald's team not D'Antoni's team. The Knicks did not know they were going to get Baron. They thought they had enough with a dominant frontcourt and a compromised back court. I think management would have looked to make a move but Baron coming to the Knicks was a gift. The plan was to go for things now and not wait until the team could acquire Deron or Paul.

The bolded is untrue. They knew they needed help in the backcourt which is why they went after Crawford and eventually signed Baron. Management cannot be that inept to believe that a 7th man off the bench, who is a combo guard and got lit up before the world and managements eyes against Rondo in the playoffs, would return to run this team. No way they believed that. No way did they believe that Fields was the answer or they wouldn't have drafted Shumpert and again went after Crawford.

The idea of waiting on Paul went out the window the moment they signed Chandler. Management had to be hearing through the grapevine that Paul was going to L.A so they pulled the trigegr on the big man. As far as Baron is concerned, I'm sure they had an inkling that he might become available. We were speculating on Forums that Baron would be a candidate to get amnisted. You dont think GM's knew there was a strong possibility that he might get amnistied as well? Of course they knew. Which is another reason why they gambled on Chanlder in hopes of landing Baron to run the point since Paul was no longer an option. If Baron doens't work out, Nash is a FA next year. Dont think they dont know this...

Crawford wasn't coming to the Knicks for 2.5 mil. If that was the plan then management is inept. I also think there is a little bit too much expected of Shumpert. His presence might help some but he is a rookie and more of a 2 guard.

Management is not inpet. They did a good job over the summer added the paint protector we all have been screaming for. Shumpert is a 2 guard, I acknowledged that which is why I said he replaces Fields who had a terrible playoff series against the Celts. In fact our entire backcourt was exposed in the playoffs which is why we drafted Shump, went after Craw and signed Baron

Listen you cant put together a championship contending team over the course of 5 months. We added Melo in Feb, and couldn't do a thing until December because of the lockout. Yes, we were fortunate that Baron was amnistied and cleared waivers. But give management credit for pouncing on him after recognizing that we need a pg. If Baron didn't become available, they would have beat the bushes and looked elsewhere for a pg via trade, FA circurt, etc. But I'm sure you know that after adding the defender we desperately needed, management had PG as it top priority....Again, one piece at a time...

I agree that they are not inept. I love all of the additions. My point was that the plan should never have been to sign Crawford to the 2.5 and if it was they are inept.

I'm sure Craw wasn't apart of the big master plan, but he was sitting at home with no immediate offers coming in. Why not take a shot at a Vet shooting guard that we need anyway? Didn't work, but they wouldn't have been doing their job if they didn't take a look-see at the Crawford situation.
