MSG3 wrote:You guys are missing the point. Knicks are in a pick your poison situation. Give big minutes to a guy like Lin or whoever they grab and suffer through the mistakes that will surely be made. Or, let TD and Bibby pick up the slack and accept there play for what it is.

I've said many times that TD isn't a solution at PG, but I'd trust him and Bibby for a few weeks. They know the system and Toney will make up for his lack of PG skills by hitting shots.

You guys have been watching the Knicks too long to think Jeremy Lin or anyone else inexperienced will come in here and become a floor general in a short amount of time. Again, not against picking up Lin, but you have to be prepared for a steady dose of TD and Bibby. Offense wasn't our problem yesterday. Our problem was when Melo was out we fell apart. Yes, that was due to the fact we didnt have a distributor out there (along with the fact Chandler and Stat did a horrible job on the boards), but we beat a good team none the less. We'll be ok until we get Shump and Davis back.

As for when they'll be back, I haven't heard the 8-10 week thing for Davis. I heard 4-8 weeks was a smokescreen. And today D'Antoni and Shump himself said he'll be fine and back soon. Nothing is guaranteed but I think we have them both back around MLK.

good points MSG3. I also think they will be fine with TD and Bobby running point for a few weeks but it can't hurt to sign LIN or Daniels for a 10 day look/see.

Yup Yup. I mentioned this on another thread. Knicks needed to monitor what happens in Houston. Jeremy Lin is the best of the current FA lot. Sign this kid up.

Senior NBA Analyst @TommyBeer said on twitter today, "Rockets released PG Jeremy Lin to make room for Dalembert... Lin a possible fit for Knicks."

Lin is a really good and cheap pick up since he's a quick strong unselfish pure point guard that's a slasher when it comes to scoring; that can split defenders; that can pass; that can block; that can shoot the 3; that can dunk and has a high basketball IQ with a lethal crossover and plays great D especially, with steals and plays to win.

Lin is a proven leader as he was captain of his high school and college teams. Lead his Palo Alto High School team to a State title. Lead the Harvard Crimson to its best record ever. Add to that the fact that Lin is playing with a chip on his shoulder because he says in interviews, his goal in the NBA is to start games and win championships but he keeps getting garbage time so, he always makes the most of whatever minutes he gets, judging from his past games with the Rockets and Warriors and Mavs. Playing time is all he needs as he excelled in every aspect of the game offensively and defensively in the D-League last season when he started almost every game with his D-League team and did not take long for him to get with the team's program; pretty much the first game off the bench was all it took before the coach decided to start him every game thereafter. With him, nothin' to lose; only gain.

What is the policy for signing players to Nbdl affiliate teams? It still counts as a roster spot, right? Would be nice if we could be grooming a dl team into the dntoni offensive system.

I like Lin too. If not Lin, Earl Boykins is also available. He's small but the guy is a baller and does not get rattled.
Rose is not the answer.

Boykins is cool, but isn't he like 40 years old?

It does count as a roster spot. The Knicks are affiliated with the Erie Bayhawks. I believe they are trying to run an offense similar to the Knicks but I don't the Knicks are using an ssol offense.

Chollie Ward is only 6 years older than Boykins. I'd like to see Ward lace'em up again

Boykins would be yet another player that played with Carmelo in Denver. I think he'd be a really nice choice for a 10-day contract... and perhaps long term - tho aren't we really keeping the roster spot open for Martin at this stage?

Judging by how the Knicks played Shumpert in the first game - it looks like D'Antoni really feels comfortable with him as a PG in transition, and in making the simple entry pass plays. Certainly we didn't have enough of a sample size to understand his court vision or ability to make the spectacular play.

With that... what's up with Iverson these days?

He is still playing, in Turkey. I don't think he would be a good fit tho, we need a facilitator at PG more than we need another offensive threat.

The player that thrives in an up tempo offense is Patty Mills, especially when the offense won't flow through him

It could be a great match to put J. Lin under MDA! A young and physically talented guard just might shine with MDA's guidance.

I'm glad that others here are seeing the potential fit for Jeremy Lin in 's system.
I realize that he's a project, but he could provide depth at the PG position behind Douglas and Bibby and perhaps morph into a player for us given time. As I said, I feel strongly that he has the potential to be a poor man's Steve Nash for us in time, and if we are able to sign Nash next year, this could be an ideal situation for Lin. I see a very low risk, potential good return on a no-brainer 10 day contract.

Footnote: Apparently GS is interested in him, too, if/when he clears waivers today at 10 AM EST.

Yea, I'll take a 10-day on Lin. The thing is, we don't need projects right now. Knicks are all in.

If the Warriors are interested in him after clearing waivers, why not pick him off waivers? His contract is less than a million and isn't guaranteed anyway.
