So he wasn't amnestied, just released, right? Because it would be a 48 hr wait for him to clear waivers. He says on his twitter that he is headed to NY. If so, this is a great pickup for our bench. Fits D'antoni's system and brings 3pt shooting we really needed.

If / when this is confirmed, we would have transformed our bench from weakness to strength. Grunwald should win excecutive of the year.

You think he's that good of an addition?

Celtics are SMART...they passed on Posey...we should, too.
Besides, we just got our three point shooter/forward in Novak.

Maybe Reggie Evans now or I would save the $2.5 for someone like Kmart/AK47

Not a big KMart fan, but like the other two.
After all that I've seen from Grunwald,
I have faith in his next move....
whoever it is.
Thanks for Chandler, Bibby, BDiddy and now Novak.
AWESOME job, Glen!!

The good thing about the Novak pick-up isn't that he is or isnt a great player, but that he is a sharpshooter and comes to a team with offensive stars that operate better when they have shooters around like him. Shawne's revival had a lot to do with Amare and later Melo. He capitalized on 3pt shooting the way Novak certainly will.

Good weapon off the bench.

Novak has to clear waivers before I even consider him as a possible Knicks pickup.

Teams (like the Nets) are already riding the Knicks' sack, trying to take players that they know the Knicks want. We're stacking up deep and they'll want to slow our roll by syphoning off talent that a obviously heading our way. Novak needs to fall back with the tweets until after he's off the waiver wire.

It's a damn good feeling seeing how so many get on board with the NYK now that we're full steam ahead.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

After watching the vid Enyspree posted, in the other thread, I like Novak. He shoots the 3 after stopping on the dime, he don't need to have his feet set. He will be great for us.

I'm neutral on this signing, there is no feeling in my heart. The guy will shoot threes like an animal but he will not do much else.

What does it say for Balkman that Knicks have signed a 6'10" forward?

you are not asking him to do much just play 5-10min and sink open 3's. Especially last shot opportunities, you bring him in for Tyson

Actually, Novak is just what we need. A role player who knows his role. He's purely a 3 pt shooter and that fits in perfectly with MDA's offense. At the Vet minimum, he's an excellent signing. We still need a back-up PF who can rebound.

Out of his 720 career field-goal attempts, 513 are from behind the three-point line. He’s shooting a career .417 on his three pointers.

Don't we need a lethal 3pt shooter to take advantage of all the open looks we will be getting with Amare, Melo, and BDiddy on the floor?

Don't forget, we have rebounding guards and SF's.....And at 6'10, Novak will get most rebounds over SF's. The reason why his rebounding #'s are low, is because he's always hanging around the 3 pt line. Basically, he's just a tall guard...But he will also get his shot off over most small forwards. The bigs will be to slow to get out there as well....

He will play a similar role to what Frye did in Phoenix last season....tough to guard a big man out to the 3 pt line, when you have Melo and Stat down low, with Chandler cleaning up.

Nice Pickup!

If you are on the fence about this guy, don't be. With him out there as a shooter with all the double teams Stat and Melo will see, this just makes us waaaay more deadly. He is a top 3pt shooter. Where he fails and Purple succeeds (I hear) is his defense. Luckily though he has height and we have Chandler in the middle. He is also a high IQ player, so will play good in the team game, much like Fields does. In good matchups I could see him used as a SG for spot minutes, again it's his defense that we need to work around. I'm not concerned as much with where our team is going now though.

Why have this guy only played in 5 games per year in the last 6 years in the NBA?
