I think for this year, we'll just have to roll with TD and Bibby at backup point.

Which is fine, but not ideal.

Next year, I feel confident Nash will be coming at the minimum. Not only for a last chance at a ring, but he gets to re-team up with Amar'e, and share point duties with his buddy Baron.

You also Iman as an option. Play him in the back court with Toney, let Iman handle the rock and Toney play as the off-ball scoring guard.

I'm excited about Baron...this is the kind of signing contenders only have the privilege of. Christmas can't get here quick enough!

I like Iman alot...I really hope we just let the kid grow and not pin him to a position because of need...

Great Pickup..if healthy by playoffs it's gonna pay great dividends. We have a PG that won't be intimidated by any matchup with any other point guard..He'll make any other opposing PG expend energy playing him. A guy like Derrick Rose can be abused in the post by Baron Davis. Just what we needed...warning if healthy.

Chinese team going to release Kenyon Martin, per Marc Stein.

We could really use Kenyon- we have no legit, veteran back up PF/C. I still don't get why he signed with China, plus he was unhappy with Denver not offering him an extension (which was hilarious considering how much money he robbed off them via that undeserved max contract, while being injured), which makes it unlikely he'd sign for the minimum. Then again maybe Melo's influence and D'Antoni's system might attract him.

If he is healthy we got to be favorites this year.
Seriously, think about this starting lineup:

Davis
Fields (good ball movement)
Melo
Stat
Chandler

There are 4 guys there who can be all stars potentially.
Our bench isn't too bad either now.

Again, IF he is healthy, this is HUGE news. And I think he is healthy. Bulging disks are not the same as ruptured. Lowering the stress can greatly help him and now, he should be pretty relaxed.

Somewhere in Miami a few guys are more than worried about their championship plans.

This is terrific news. After so many years of pipe dreams and dashed hopes the Knicks can realistically dream of reaching the highest heights. Davis is the perfect pickup. First we get a top tier center when we most desperately needed one, now we get a top notch PG when we desperately needed one. It's nice for things to play out like this for a change.

With Davis as the starting PG I actually really like our backcourt. Bibby is 2nd string PG, Toney and Shump are backup twos. Shump probably starts at the two after a while. Fields settles in at the backup 3/occasional two guard. Toney can concentrate on limited PG duties and more scoring.

To perfect the squad we need a solid backup four, but that is more in the gravy category. This is a seriously good team this year. Assuming Davis doesn't have ongoing back problems. I am not concerned about his motivation with Stat and Melo and Chandler on the team, and with the team poised to go far and believing.

Go Knicks!!

Agree. Good to have a tail that can wag the three headed monster.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

This could be a strong pick-up. This guy is only one year removed from 15/8 with a steal-and-a-half; compare this with Chris Paul last year, 16/10 and two steals.

Much depends on his fitness.

By 3 headed monster, are you referring to our intimidating PG trio of BDiddy, TD and Bibby?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Awesome! With Bibby and now Davis to run the point we have have gotten older but we've also got a whole lot more experience.
D'Antoni has the option of spreading the minutes more evenly to keep them healthy for the playoffs. Great news.

But I picked Bibbby up with the final pick in fantasy, how will this affect his value? Negatively, I think.

I wouldn't count too heavily on Bibby...Bibby's Championship finals output in points...2,14,0,0,3 and DNP...

Knicks got a pretty deep team now. Biggest flaw people would point out before is poor backcourt.. BoomDizzle isn't Chris Paul but he can still be one of the better PGs in the league. Chandler and Stat are going to feast on lobs this season
