I don't think either is very good defensively. Williams is a 40.5% career three point shooter, while Craw has shot 34.1%. Williams is at the point where his play may improve; Craw is declining.

that highlight showing multiple blocks is kind of misleading - Reggie Williams has nine blocks total in two years in the NBA. he's not a shotblocker.

i like Reggie Williams, but he was a d-league callup that finished the season strong in 2010, then in his first full season, he was kind of a decent backup.

i like him - but i wouldn't break the bank on him. i think he's kind of redundant with landry. both are 6'6" or 6'7" and not really athletic enough to play SG, more undersized SFs.

have to say that i think Shawne Williams fills a more valuable need than Reggie Williams as Shawne can play the 3 or the 4. and more importantly, Shawne can defend the 3 and some 4s. questionable what position Reggie defends.

Decent backups are what we are liking for. I like Grunfeld going at multiple players and not getting bogged down by traditional thinking. He seems to be aggressive, as long as he chooses wisely we will have good bench. Extra-E should get right of first refusal.

Word. He really played well last year. He's solid from way outside, too. Should come cheaply and he really wants to be a Knick.

According to Hollinger's scouting report, this Williams kid is a good passer who doesn't turn the ball over much. If I had to choose be Williams and Mo Evans, it's Williams. But right now, we have no one on the roster we can count on to do a decent job backing up stat. Shawne probably fits our needs the best out of everyone available.

i don't know how anyone who watched this team in the playoffs can feel comfortable with a starting backcourt of toney and landry.

i agree we need backups and shawne williams is an ideal one. but to me, the more pressing need is a lead guard.

Williams signed with Charlotte. Two years 5 mil so the Knicks could have paid him. Crawford has also ruled out a return to the Knicks. It will be interesting to see if the Knicks sign Shawne or wait for the Baron thing to play out by Friday. I know Shawne wanted his status resolved by today.

I guess the thought is BDavis is coming, but I have been saying the same thing (need veteran in backcourt) since the Tyson Chandler trade.

Not too many starters are available right now at PG. we really don't need to do anything rash, looks like we are going after whatever slim pickings are out there.

i think the knicks will sign shawne. and hope a veteran's minimum is enough for davis. he should get his full salary from the cavs no matter what.

This is a real shame. Waiting for Crawford, who proved money is always first in this type if decisions, we missed a chance on signing a cheap but good young talent. Maybe he wasn't going to sign for the minimum, which was likely going to be our offer with Shawne getting the 2.5, but you'll never know. In terms of contention, the Knicks right now looks as good as anybody in the East, and NY is always NY.

But let's see what happens. If we can get any combination of Shawne, and either Baron or Mo, we will be fine. All three, on the other hand, would be great.

Then I think he either immediately injured himself, or was already injured- he's out 8 weeks:

Considering how that played out, it's a good thing that the Knicks didn't sign him.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

these guys are pros but at least he got a 2 year contract.
So i guess he hurt it in practice?
Jeff Green has a heart condition, during examining his health.
He lost his 1 year deal, that sucks for him...

While they are both young and should recover, its not easy, mentally and physically.
I have a friend with a similar situation with Reggie Williams. He actually lost more than him.
It took him about 1-2 years to full recover. And then there is that mental part, your body gives way to a side of the body.
It becomes a habit, and could cause you to hurt joints/muscles of other areas....

Of course they get better physical therapy and better treatment over all.
Wish them all the best and hope they enjoy the meds *good stuff* while recovering LOL

I wonder if they get workers compensation and/or unemployment....
Having surgery at this age for them, can be a blessing in disguise.
Many players in the league, around the age of 32, just drop off from one time all stars, stars, to possibly no contracts.
You have to take training, conditioning, and dieting very seriously in order to continue to be a real pro.

This is really unfortunate because he is a solid young player who because of the short schedule, will miss a big part of the season. I really wanted to sign this guy. Hope he can fully recover and as fast as possible.
