Keith Van Horn is the missing piece. He was scoring better than 16 points a game, his best numbers in three years. Only Kurt Thomas was averaging more rebounds. The player they called soft was pushing hard. And now he's in Milwaukee, traded for Tim Thomas, who left Villanova after one brilliant year, was the seventh player drafted, and has never lived up to expectations. He has the same number of NBA seasons as the man he replaces, but his best scoring totals - 13.3 last year - were always lower than Van Horn's worst year. He's 6-10, but spends too much time on the outside. The rap on him in Milwaukee was that he consistently delivered less than he was paid for. And now he brings his SPORADIC game to the Knicks.

How can a player be a missing piece on a team that isn't good enough to win a championship?

At one time I thought we were giving hope to some kind a triangle offense with H20, KVH and Starbury. Now that KVH replacement is here I like to see TT match or better KVH.

All the coaching effort KVH has had was a waste of fine tuning player talent if I ever seen in this sport.

The fact that KVH puts up the numbers without the mediocrity of POTENTIAL behind his stats leaves me to believe hype takes precedence over performance.

If we get Doleac back.. the trade was brilliant...
Otherwise... the trade was a good LATERAL move to improve the areas we were deficient in... Getting Nazr was the pivotal aspect of this trade... when your discussing how good or bad it was.. he must be part of the equation.. POint blank.. not much more to it..
GET OVER IT!

this trade was just as much about getting away from KVH and his liabilities as it was getting talent back. Did we miss KVH last night? How was our defense down the stretch?

KVH has getting benched in the 4th qtrs because he's a liability there. Its bad for chemistry to rely on a guy for 17/7 every game but you cant let him play in crunch time because his terrible d, stone hands and mental insecurities are going to lose you games.

After trading for Dice just so we could trade him away with no replacement in return would have been nice compensation if we went after Joe Smith instead of the off-the-wall trade for TT.

Getting Nazr must be the sleeper in the trade [show me yawning] with all that unlock potential waiting to dominate the inside..

Well .. It obvious the disgruntled KVH fans on here and the others on this site just plain won't agree on anything regarding this trade...
Let's see how the new guys fare.. If we get Doleac back...
What the next 24 hours Brings...
And how this team does after the next 7 games to have any kind of INFORMED discussion about this.
Please fellas... let's drop this topic already...

No Vec, let the DEFUNCT KVH Fan Club members cry. It's funny as hell. LMAO

Now we can all see just why they are KVH fans in the first place. They whine, cry and bytch and are just as marshmallow-soft as their heroine, Queef Van Corn. Hahahaa!!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

LOL... hilarious post...
These guys are quite amazing..
The whine and whine and whine..
Like some baby who just lost his pacifier, who can't realize he's too old for one now and he needs to move on..
I guess I'll just sit back and let the team's wins speak for itself...
Keep it real Hardcore...

Let's face it. Had IT been the GM, there is no way KVH would have ever been a Knick! Spree for KVH? NO way! IT knows talent. I bet TT will fit in better as a Knick. He seems like he can be a player who can do the dirty work, of just given the right direction.

SO why did Terry porter want KVH instead of the 6'10 midget TIM THOMAS. Dude plays like he is 6'5. TT is wayyyyyyyy overrated for the cash he stole.

So let's say Layden was let go last year and IT took over before the Sprewell/KVH trade occurred. Who would have he traded Sprewell for? Would he have been part of the trade that netted us Marbury? Thing is... the Suns wouldn't have wanted Sprewell.

We probably could have dealt for BigDog, right? Or... Maybe some package to get us Tim Thomas & Desmond Mason? Sprewell is not a good fit in Milwaukee cuz they wanted ego-less players.

Interesting though.

I agree with you 100%. TT is a bench player, KVH is a second or third wheel. We just got a snippet of what TT is--a LOW IQ[and he is ]basketball player who plays small and soft for his size. Im much more content starting Penny Hardaway at SF than TT because he's smart and plays better D. Thats why I keep looking at this deal and realize it didnt have to be made now--it does NOT improve the team NOW--so why not wait until the end of the season to re-evalute?

KVH IMHO was playing the best ball of his entire career for the Knicks. I believe his trade value--to the right team AFTER the season--couldve been signficiant. Tim Thomas doesnt have half the value. Were stuck with Tim for atleast 1 1/2 years at a minimum.

That's what everyone said about Van Horn at the time that trade was made. Give Isiah some credit. He obviously knows the game more than ANY of us.

What we miss from KVH will show when we play teams with cohesive defensive strategy. KVH ability to stretch the defense with his 3 pt shooting and ability to drive and dunk was something we took for granted. KVH has played in big games including the finals, the guy was truly hurt by this trade because he thought he finally did fit in with a team on the move. The Jazz employed a zone defense for long stretches and dared the Knicks to beat them from outside, and New York couldn't do it. I hope KVH has a good season , he was a good knick.

The real mover was Dolan, he was the sole reason spree got traded and it had nothing to do with Scott Layden.

yea i'd much rather have kvh, the question is will mohammed become a dependable force down low with kareems help? if yes then i can live with tim thomas instead of kvh. but straight up-i dont think theres any question kvh was playing very well on offense and could play as well on d as tim thomas
