Another poster had interestingly mentioned in another thread that Shumpert could be a Ron Harper type PG who plays SG, while there is a scorer at the point (TD, Bibby or Baron). Or maybe the 4 would be interchangeable, allowing Fields to play more 3 behind Melo.

In crunch time I would think Baron would be bringing up the ball and moving to a more conservative half court offense that runs through Melo (like Dantoni was saying the other day).

yeah, i seriously question whether cleveland can sign enough guys to reach the salary floor if they amnesty baron. doesn't really help them much to amnesty the guy, unless they just want him off their team. even then, a buy out probably makes more sense, given the fact that they actually NEED his numbers on their cap to meet the minimum.

I think teams have the entire season to add salary. I'm sure they'll eb able to sign or trade for someone useful by the end of the year who will gladly fill up their cap space. Still, the idea of paying Davis just to perform for another team woud be painful.

Mike Bibby is terrible. Why they even wasted money on this guy just defies comprehension.

Baron Davis is a great pickup. He can still take over games and knows how to get people invovled and he will have a lot of fun playing in NYC throwing lobs to Amare and Chandler and getting Melo the ball.

Why would we package TD or Fields. They like playing defense and are effective young talent and you need multiple guys to win in the playoffs.

you don't think he would negotiate a buy out to become a FA?

tough one... I think you base this on what you see from Toney and Shumpert. Baron Davis was bigtime player. A multiskilled guy who could beat you in many ways and impress his will on a game. I know he's moody etc and doesnt work hard if his team stinks. I have no problem with all of that, but I feel like its been a couple years since Baron was good player. He went to Clips, got knicked up, the team stunk and he mailed it in. That was what... 4 years ago?

The Knicks are now a pretty loaded team and we have a frontcourt guards will be salivating to play behind. I think we can pick and choose. Bring Davis in for a workout. If he's fat pass. If he's in shape (or close enough to it) then you jump on it

That would be nice. But if does that, there maybe less incentive for him to take vets minimum.

he would however get to choose where he plays...and Cleveland does save some money that they wouldn't if they amnesty him...it would be a win win

i would say that depends greatly on how baron is feeling. baron has the potential to be better than felton, for sure. but consistently, over the past two seasons, felton has been the better player.
