JJ has been showing his value for a while now. His great job in the playoffs only cemented the idea of getting him. He's a spark plug and a good one. You don't have to rely on him as the main guy. He's what Nate was supposed to be.

Barea hit many game winners in the season and playoffs. Terry, Dirk, and Barea were the top 3 scorers in the playoffs for the Mavs.
Marion is somewhere in between there and with Kidd as well. Barea would be an upgrade over TD, he runs the pick and roll well.
Being so small, quick, and strong for his size is very tough to guard, with a big pick like Tyson Chandler. He either get's a good look
at the shot or penetrates and finishes very well. It also helped that he always had 4 threat's to spread the floor out together to hit the 3's
and one big guy to set the pick/grab rebounds etc. He is a better facilitator than TD and their game's are similar in some sense.
TD is the better defender, but Barea has a floater and decent mid range game, 2 things TD really need's to work on.

It depends, what we have to give up to have his services, I would not part with Iman for sure, and I would still like to keep TD.
While, I don't like Bibby at this point of his career, I think we could use a better rotation of guards for this shortened season.
However, if its a choice between Parker or Shawne Williams, I would rather have those 2 players. I know we still have roster spots
left and it all depends how we fill it up. Bibby and JJ hog up 2 roster spots, in which I feel could be used for more worthy players.

Retaining Williams should be a priority because he has been here and played with our roster already. On improving our team,
we need a backup G/F. We also need another shooter or 2. Peja would be a nice player to have. Ak47 should get a look as well, if we can't retain
Shawne Wiliams. I would like an athletic 4/5, while AK47 could be used for either or. Ak47 would serve a nice role, when he was a younger he could play
3,4,5, with his versatility, length, and athleticism. While we only have 1 2.5m or 3.5 exemption to use for 3 years. The rest must be 1 year veteran minimum deals.

Do we still have the BiAnnual exemption? And do we have any other exemptions, I thought there were 3 exemptions, one being the MLE.
It's unfortunate we don't have the MLE to use.

Balkman
Walker
JJ

Shumpert
Fields

Our weakest position, is our PG, however, I believe Iman will take over with some more practices.
Many people, don't realize the potential he has and discount that. While, I don't want to push him to run the point to start the season, I think Dantonni
want's him to learn the theory behind the SSOL, therefore giving TD the chance to exhibit it while Iman absorbs it. With the shortened pre season and lock out,
Iman wasn't able to get some time with the Knick's coaches and will take some time before he learn it.

TD, seems to be the player to guard the PG, but judging from the past 2 years, he isn't a facilitator. Regardless Barea, would help solidify that because
only Shumpert can possibly fill that role. Like many said, TD and Bibby, won't be used like Felton in SSOL. They would simply bring the ball up and
let Melo or whoever, create.

Shawne Williams
Ak47

Barea
Anthony Parker

We can only possibly sign one of these guys above but all these players are needed for our bench/depth.

I would also look to add the players under this for the veteran minimum.
Its possible Ak47 might come for the Biannual exemption as well.

Peja
Sean WIiliams

He's an FA, right? Then my assessment depends on the size of his contract. He's basically a 6'0" SG (and that height measurement is probably quite generous)

This is a bad signing. The guy is just too small.

Kahn has a fetish for PGs, he had five active PGs at one time.
He probably jizzes himself silly everytime he sees one.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

What kind of sense does this comment make? The guy just won a title as a key role player on the Mavs. His being small was used as a weapon as his quickness was a problem for the other teams. Since they had Tyson and Dirk behind him no one really tried to post him up. He was deadly at breaking down the defense and causing havoc.

He's too small but you can get by with that limitation if he has a limited role off the bench on the team. If he's your starting PG, that's another story. It also helps if you have a Hall-of-Fame level teammate like Dirk.

Simply put small PG's get abused by larger PG's. Miami had Mario Chalmers, Mike Bibby, and Eddie House as their PG rotation. In the East we have Rondo, Rose, Jennings, Wall, Nelson, etc to contend with.

We don't need a backup PG we need a starting PG. Session wouldn't be bad.
