I don't doubt that if you look at his whole 600 game career you'll find several 4 game samples with good assist numbers. That's a bad way to evaluate a player though.

It has more to do with a point of focus. He's not a natural passer in terms of temperament, like Lebron, but he doesn't lack for ability. Some guys just aren't able to make the pass. Melo can make the pass and if he's given the job of having to make his teammates better I think he can do it and I think he's mentally ready for the job. He hasn't been resistant to doing what is needed since he came here. He defended harder and worked on his 3pt shooting. I think he'll give it his best effort and for the most part will probably find some success and will probably have some bad performances too. They've got to commit to it and work thru the kinks.
