If NY can actually keep Turiaf AND sign Chandler that does good things for their depth, no? I'm thinking Turiaf is a good energy PF off the bench and won't get hurt in that role. Also, Knicks could actually toss Balkman to the Mavs.

I'd be in favor. Hopefully Balkman, Rautins or Walker are traded.

Why can't they structure the contract where Chandler would make 11 mil in the first year instead of 15 mil?

I read that it's Rautins. Gives Mavs 12 Million trade exception. We keep Turiaf in this scenario.

if Dallas can get an exception for S&T of Tyson, why can't the Knicks get one for Ronny? I am just thinking out loud.

The Knicks are in the final stages of sending Ronny Turiaf's $4.2 million contract to Washington and could be completed tonight, according to sources.

That would complete the Tyson Chandler bonanza as the Knicks would have enough room to move under the salary cap after waiving Chauncey Billups by the amnesty clause. The Turiaf trade was the holdup to the deal being official. It does not appear the Knicks would receive anything in return and will likely have to give the Wizards cash to pay for part of his pact.

The new CBA states a team can add a total of $3 million in trades in a full year.

something isn't adding up, we should have more room or an exemption of some sort unless we are paying Chandler max , or frontloading it?

Martin, I think they see Iman as a 1 and that they'll bring in Bibby to hold his hand. I think they wanted Hill cause they want a 2. He turned them down and now they have more room to make a trade for someone else's 2.

The Knicks payroll is slightly under 60 without Brown.

Billups 14.2
Turiaf 4.36

Cap is 58.3m

Tyson Chandler starts at about 13.5m

Where does the rest of the cap go?
Are we also getting another player from Dallas like Barea?

If my math is correct, we should be getting about 4.5 back to spend or an asset?

slightly more, cause Rautins or whoever goes to Dallas gets subtracted.
So We should have close to a MLE to work with.

If Berman is correct in reporting that Rony is going to Washington would this deal still be a sign and trade? If so do the Knicks gain some cap space doing the Turiaf move prior and retain their MLE?
