Tyson Chandler is perfect compliment for Stat and Melo. Sign him then get one or two more 6'10"+ players and we are good to go.

$14 million a year for Tyson ****ing Chandler? That is god-awful.

We are going to waste our amnesty on a guy in the final year of his contract who can still contribute just for the right to overpay an injury prone center? This is Isiah-esque. I think he is back. Unofficially, Isiah is back and destroying the team again.

$14 million a year for Chandler? Oh dear Lord. Donnie is turning over in his wheelchair.

for me it's a good move on several accounts.

OK, it's a given that Chandler has been injury prone in the past... but, if you gonna win a championship, you HAVE to have a big C. who else is out there that the Knicks can get?

I thought he was the final piece for Dallas in the Championship puzzle.

He also compliments Amare and Melo PERFECTLY.

He can be traded as a HUGE chip next year if necessary... paging Howard.

Next year you spend the MLE on Nash to come off the bench.

Why would anyone trade for Chandler with 3 years and $15 million a season remaining on his deal? No team trading their star will want this guy's awful contract in return.

Also, Toney Douglas cannot play point guard. He is awful.

you got your assumptions wrong. Dallas saving cap space for next year to go after the likes of CP3, Deron, etc. That's why they are hesitating.

yeah, i agree completely.

also, sounds like the way to create the cap space would be billups and turiaf to denver. for cap space? maybe to get a #1 pick back, even??

I have to agree with "Childs2Dudley". 2 years ago Tyson Chandler was considered a BAD contract at 11 million per. Now with a more restrictive CBA Chandler at 14+ per is a TERRIBLE deal.

Denver Discussing Turiaf Trade With Knicks

As the Knicks attempt to create enough cap space to sign Tyson Chandler, the team has been in talks with the Nuggets about a deal involving Ronny Turiaf.

Turiaf was acquired by New York from the Warriors during the summer of 2010 in the David Lee sign-and-trade.

only way i could see Denver taking Turiaf is if they were getting Billups back. i think that has to be the plan.

also, Billups did not report to camp today (still voluntary).

RT @Al_Iannazzone: Interesting thing is Chauncey was supposed to be at #Knicks today and as far as we know he isn't here.

It's pretty much a huge gamble for the Knicks at this point. Considering the lockout-shortened and intensive season we're going to have in 2012, and Amare's limited # of explosive years remaining on his surgically-repaired knee, IF WE WANT TO CONTEND FOR A TITLE then the Chandler signing makes a lot of sense. We've waited way too long to be 1st and 2nd round knockouts in the playoffs. Tyson would provide an immediate impact to the team and complements our dynamic duo quite well.

Yes, we're 1 injury away from being suckers again but with him in the lineup we're in the top 3 of the Eastern Conference.

It's not the most fiscally responsible move but I'm sick of waiting.

This is equivalent to giving Jerome James $6 million a season.

i think it's a brilliant move.

even with CP3, i thought the knicks lacked the interior strength to contend for a title. NOW? with Tyson Chandler?

it's literally the best frontcourt in the league.

Perhaps: Billups, Turiaf to DEN. Andre Miller to NY? Sign Chandler?

Story nailed by @KBergCBS. Knicks have jumped ahead of GSW for Tyson Chandler. Source close to talks: "New York is Tyson's first choice."

Let's see how fantastic this move is in a year or two.

Guarantee people are begging to rid of this guy by next offseason. Too bad he wont be tradeable.

thing about this move - there HAS to be some component they are thinking of that can get CP3 here. HAS TO.

that's the only reason i could see Chandler wanting NYK.

somehow it's an all-in move for CP3.

i wonder if that means dangling Amar'e for CP3. which would be crazy. but there has to be something.

omg. if we walk into this season WITH CP3 and CHANDLER and WITHOUT AMARE... I won't even know what to think. Just shock. Pure shock. Sadly, the knicks management team don't have the creativity to pull that off..

C2D, I understand where you are coming from with your arguement, in terms of him being injury prone. With that said, if we can manage to get 2 good solid years out of him, he would be tradeable afterwards, b/c then he only has 2 years remaining, so teams may want to take his soon to be expiring contract.

This would be a great signing.
