Just landed. Told unequivocally by source that Grant Hill has NOT yet decided between Suns, Knicks, Bulls and Spurs.

I think its '09 repeat: using NY for leverage. RT @kingbutz: @alanhahn chances grant hill becomes a knick?

I'm with Hahn, Hill using NY as leverage for more $$$ from that cheapass PHO owner.

yeah, that would explain why Berman is the one "breaking the story"... NYPost only breaks stories when they're being used for leverage. sigh.

The basketball fan in me loves his maturity in terms of being professional. This second career he's had has been impressive, I never thought it would be him and Juwan Howard left from ye olden days. Let's gets dirty Kurty and Penny too! (I'm really only joking about one of them.)

The Alba GM in me relishes running into Lala and Tamia having a girls' night around town somewhere.

Could grant Hill be the point-forward? Is his ball-handling good enough to handle pressure while bringing the ball up court?

Grant Hill is off the table, apparently:

Spurs or Suns for Grant Hill?
December, 8, 2011
Dec 85:12PM ETEmailPrintComments1 By J.A. Adande
ESPN.com
Archive Free agent Grant Hill is expected to choose a team this afternoon, according to a league source. The source said Hill will decide between the team where he has played the past four years, the Phoenix Suns, and a newly emerged contender: the San Antonio Spurs.

One thing the source ruled out: “It won’t be New York.”

The Knicks had been a rumored destination for Hill, but now they are now attempting to shed salary, not add it, so they can pursue Tyson Chandler.

The Spurs are apparently willing to give the 39-year-old Hill a second year on his contract, which the Suns would not. If Hill, a small forward, were to sign with the Spurs it would presumably coincide with San Antonio using the amnesty provision to waive small forward Richard Jefferson, who has three years and $30 million remaining on his contract.

Here's the thing I don't understand about Grant Hill - can't the Knicks offer the full MLE once they go back over the cap after Tyson Chandler and Iman Shumpert are signed?

Oh I thought we'd be able to sign both Chandler and Hill. Do we have nothing but the vet minimum leftover after Chandler?

i thought we'd be able to use the MLE after going over the cap... but not sure with the new CBA. but spurs offering 2yrs could trump knicks offering 1yr. could see the knicks wanting to keep their MLE slot open in 2012 for nash or felton.

Unless this changed in the new CBA, the MLE is available only to teams that start the off-season over the cap.

I don't mind it. The deal will be a short one, and Grant Hill will provide us with a solid 2-guard and veteran leadership skills.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I can't access twitter right now but guys on other threads are saying he is going to either the Spurs or the Suns. He would be a great addition especially with Chandler in the mix. The Knicks would have a ton of character, some good defenders and some stars.

It shouldn't be about the money for him. It's not like he won't find a job next year.

Why would we be only offering a one year deal? If the Chandler deal goes through then we're no longer bound by clearing cap space for next off season. Hill is definitely using us for leverage again though, like nearly every FA does every year (and we fall for it every time!)

Exactly my thinking. Now we can offer him two and anyone want to say he'd rather play in SA than with Melo, Amare and Chandler!
I really hope he isn't using us for leverage. But if so, I hope he has fun cheering from the stands for NBA teams come the playoffs..

If the Knicks use cap space to sign Chandler, they will NOT have the MLE to use.
