why? A 1 year rental for Nash by giving up an asset is a good thing? To what end?

It's not worth giving up an asset to get a hall-of-fame PG? We get him for a year and spend that year trying to convince him to stay. We'd be willing to offer him a longer, bigger contract than other teams and he'd make a lot of endorsement money. He comes out of it with dozens of millions more here than his next best option. I still prefer doing everything we can to get Paul and Okafor first though. We also need to give it time and see how this team does first. If the team this year looks like it did post-trade last year, then I'd be strongly in favor of getting Nash.

if Nash was 30 I would agree. Dude is nearly 38. and doesn't play defense.

In the limited amount I've seen, he's still the same player he was when he was the MVP.

How will we grab rebounds?

I wouldn't do this unless we sign a MLE worthy center...

...who could also guard the other three positions as well. Jeez, is there three softer defensive people starting in the league?

Well there is Avi Lee, Barlos Coozer and Pau Gasol - though Pau has definitely improved under the zen master.

People forget that nash was a good player prior to linking up with MDA, he was a flat out super star under MDA..Thats what seperates him from billups. while billups maybe the better player one on one..Nash can run MDA's offense at full speed or half court.. his chemistry with Amare is as good as Stock & Malone. The guy won 2 MVP's in his mid 30's..

I'm sorry, I think Nash is the better PG for MDA (with all do respect to billups) I just don't see him running that offense with consistancy, he's a veteren player that has never ever played this way.

We all knew Felton was going to excel in this system, cause he was essential held back in charlotte. But billups said it himself, he had never experience anything like it. When billups got here, it became a post up/iso for melo on one side, and the same for Amare on the other. It's not like billups even had anything special with Melo in denver..

That trade could be tweak some, but make no mistake, nash would be the oldest all star in the history of the NBA if he came to NY for 3 more seasons under MIKE.

I'm content to give Billups a full year to have his Derek Harper 2 season we all ideally envision, and start projecting Iman to be great UK mafia prospect, with people getting hyped about his effort and potential , and just see what happens next free agent season, no matter what. Not get sucked into trades, and see what can do with the same team all year. We haven't had a season without a chemistry screwing up trade mid season.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

There is no reason for Phoenix to trade Nash for Billups. Nash is better, and sells lots of tickets. We would have to include some young players or draft picks. But we traded away all of our draft picks for Melo and to dump Jeffries contract. So we don't have much to offer Phoenix other than Douglas or Fields.

I would make the trade :
Nash for Billups + Fields + 2nd round draft pick + $3 mil. But Phoenix wouldn't do this.We need to include money because Nash will make about $2.5 mil less than Billups.

I think you're right. Getting Grant Hill this year as an FA and Nash next year (assuming his game doesn't decline this year) would help a lot. We'd still need a center, though.

I am with these guys. I can't understand the logic behind giving up Fields/TD for Nash. As good as he is our defense will fall even further and that's a NON- starter.

Can't imagine why PHX would do a deal straight up, and I can't imagine why we would give up an asset to sweeten any deal for him.

Besides, Nash a one year player? That cap space we will have next year needs to be spent wisely.

It's not TD & Fields for Nash !!!
It's TD (25), Fields (23) & Billups (35) for Nash (37), Frye (25) & Pietrus (28)

News is that we are close to signing Grant Hill.If that is the case then a deal for Nash would be possible if we gave up Fields who is replaced by Grant Hill in the lineup. Not that big deal proposed at the beginning of the thread, but just Nash for Billups + Fields + Jordan + $3 mil.

Hell no. lol. How about JUST Billups for Nash. We cannot afford, in any circumstance, to give up our young guys for possible one year rentals.

I'm confused !!! All of you guys constantly hate on TD, ALL THE TIME. Yet, the idea of offering him in a trade gets your panties in a bunch is mind blowing !!! lol
