Reports say #Knicks are out of CP3 trade sweepstakes. Way too much competition and no assets. Was always going to be a FA move.
My intel was same as @Chris_Broussard, #Knicks still trying like hell to get other teams involved. Too complicated; NOH not willing to wait.
From Chris Broussard
Knicks and Heat expressing interest in Josh Howard...NYK also looking for third &/or 4th team to facilitate trade for CP. Having little luck
Sources say Lakers have plans to go after Dwight Howard AND CP3. Everyone not named Kobe is available.
The CP3 thing won't be over until next summer. No matter where he goes, he's definitely going to opt out, because that's the only way to get a 5yr $100M deal from whatever team trades for him. So the Knicks will have their chance to make a pitch, you'd think. but they'll only be able to offer 4yrs $60M as I understand it. so assuming he'd eventually get a 5th year at $20M or so, he'd be leaving $20M on the table over 5yrs in NY. you'd think he'd be able to make that up in endorsement money pretty easily in NY.
so, if CP3 wants to be in NY in the end, he'll have his chance. but we won't know until the week of July 1, 2012. sigh. i'm really getting sick of waiting on this stuff.
Yeah, its been a tought two weeks huh?
Big deal is a trade done before Jan 1st for Bird rights
I have not read up on every scenario but perhaps someone can lay it all on the table to understand what Pauls choices are.
I don't see how Paul becomes a knick unless Dolan loses patience or the whole thing extends into next summer.
I can imagine He'd commit to a Laker show with Kobe and Dwight but short of that that how bad does he want NY and how can he get most of his money?
