I see this as evidence that NY has become an attractive team to FAs

The big issues are the Knicks only offering 1 year contracts and also things being up in the air about trading for Paul. Players are scared that they would just end up being part of a trade later. If the Knicks were to be offering longer deals i'm sure they would be getting more attention right now from FA's.

signing jeffries to me means they struck out on grant hill to defend the perimeter. I can only hope. Hopefully we still have a chance at Jeff Foster and they didn't resign jeffries to play center

The only reason this is a smart move is because unlike Walsh, Grunwald didn't use a lottery pick, or a trade to acquire a guy that D'Antoni wouldn't play anyway. Berman refers to him as a starter and I think he is probably right. However, I don't understand the philosophy of signing the guy no one else wanted first.

I have to clean my screen now

It's just a bridge year for NY, anyway. I'm not really surprised by this at all.

He is a role player and not a bad guy to have on your team. However, his role has always been too big with the Knicks. He already is being penciled in as the starter at center by some. That is not a role that he should be filling on a team that is planning on making a run deep into the playoffs.
