there is no way on God's green earth that that is factorial

they're close:

The efficiency numbers indicate otherwise. Another major difference was the All Star lobbying on Gordon's behalf whereas absolutely no one thought Mayo was on that level

one of the huge differences I see is that Gordon is a monster who averaged six free throw attempts and four assists a game. Mayo got to the line about two times a game and averages two assists. I think Mayo's numbers kinda highlight his difficulty penetrating and creating shots for others.

that's a fair assessment. i think oj mayo is kind of a more polished jamal crawford. for some reason i like his game, though i can't defend it with numbers. i think alongside amar'e and melo he'd be good. though honestly, i have similar or higher hopes for shumpert.

I think my hopes for Iman far exceed what Mayo has done so far. The biggest reason is that Iman is a defensive player. It's what really makes him so interesting. The fact that he could help us defensively and at the same time be effective on offense is what I think will be his impact. Mayo has only one way he can impact a game and that's if he's hitting shots.

I been saying this for a w hile:

OJ Mayo is a low risk high reward prospect. He's gonna break out, he looked good in the playoffs.
I think he's gonna develop into a really solid player, he has a high ceiling and a broad skillset. I've been saying we should trade for him, up until we drafted Iman.

I'm far more inclined to develop Iman and see what we have wit him before we reach for a similar kind of player, who's going to cost alot more money, and require that we give up more players.

We need a big, everything else is a luxury.

Honestly he was consistent his first 2 years. Last year was a bad year.

Memphis plays the inside out game with Marc and Zach dominating down low. Rudy Gay has to get his shots because he is getting paid the max. Conley was also extended so it was pretty clear who WAS NOT apart of that future core.

So he was sent to the bench knowing he was as good as gone. Didnt help that he got suspended for 10 games. Then you factor in Tony Allen eating Mayo's minutes as well.

Fact is Mayo is on par with Eric Gordon.

Exactly what need does he fill on the knicks. He's not a pg, he's not big, has never been an efficient scorer, he's a volume shooter, and he just got out played by Toney Allan and conley.

He would find himself in a similar situation here..

The Knicks are HEAVILY reliant on Melo and Amare for scoring. I don't want D'Antoni being forced to run them into the ground just so we can be competitive.

The Knick guards aren't all that.

where do I sign up? OJ is an elite shooter and would give us even better spacing on offense. He'd excel as a third option, capitalizing off the attention Amare and Melo receive.

agreed, but this is premature. Its pump and dump until the CP3 drama is done. Its Melo all over again

Poor mans Joe Johnson?

MDA got a list of players that he thinks could thrive in SSOL.

Build it out for the system and unleash the beast upon the NBA...........

They should trade OJ for draft pick. Low no. 1.

Picks are assets that pay dividends down the road.

We are capped out summer 2012 and Chris Paul isnt coming. Oh and we now NEED his shooting and scoring since we will be playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end and Billups is GONE.

Get this man. NOW!

anubis, the grizzlies traded him last year to the pacers.... it fell thru

"The Memphis Grizzlies had agreed in principle to trade guard O.J. Mayo to the Indiana Pacers for forward Josh McRoberts and a 2011 first-round pick, league sources said Thursday, but the deal fell apart."

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6155170

mcroberts put up 7 and 5 last year. not exactly all-star caliber.

still, with no picks to give them, and billy walker basically being a throw-in; i don't think they do that.

i would love oj mayo, but we have no way of getting him now. have to hope shumpert can fill the role. and i think he can. albeit slightly differently.

I think we can get him for a pick and a warm body. We need help at the guard position badly.

we have no picks left to trade. it'd have to be 2 of the 3 out of the shumpert, fields, toney group, i think.

Keep Shumpert and send Fields and Toney packing.
