This tentative deal BS is making me nervous. Is the tentative part just a formality and it will definitely get accepted by both sides? Is there any chance some douchebag on one side decides to reject it?

All both sides need is a majority. There will be plenty of douchebags on both sides who reject it but I don't believe they will be the majority.

it'll be a PR nightmare if it doesn't happen. stern, owners, players...none will be able to recover. they won't let that happen.

Yessss! Psyched for this building year. Hope we get the team squared away (i.e., whomever will be sticking around) and make a run in the playoffs.
