I want to see how he does against couches and possibly a picnic table... or possibly chairs set up in a zone D...
We really have to withhold judgement until he goes against an entire sectional or some really mad end tables...

this effing lockout can't end soon enough.

Maybe the next series of vids is him breaking the ankles of his entire high school JV squad at one time?

Are you blind? You see what he did to the dining room table and the hutch? You see the size of the hutch? He was much quicker!

You can see what he brings to the table!

I wonder how long that agent-fronted cash will continue to flow now that paychecks to normal union members are going to stop.

Wonder if that's why he's hanging out at his HS now...

We had a draft pick named Hill that came into SL out of shape!!! Don't tell me they all take it as seriously as Iman has. If I'm going to get reports on our new rook I'd rather it be that he's working hard on his weaknesses. Look, Iman was the best physical talent in this draft to begin with! So we're already starting with a great base. What you can judge him on is what were his flaws! 3pt shooting and passing in particular. From everything we've seen and heard since the workouts he improved his shooting and continues to work. He still needs to learn the pro game and learn pro level decision making but just his raw talent alone is easy to see.

Fields wasn't even on many draft boards and made an impact! Iman has even more talent than Fields IMO all he has to do is learn to fully apply that talent. How good he ends up being will depend on how well he learns and adapts to what he's taught. So far no one that's played with him or saw him play this summer hasn't felt he has a chance to be a Star! Including Billups. I'm not saying it's a lock that Iman is a success but it's more likely that he is successful than not IMO. He's a kid I wanted the Knicks to take and so far he's surpassed my early expectations.

If you watch the same video every day, does Iman get more in shape?

I bet you sure piss a lot of people off, criticizing others, and with the annoying sarcasm in real life and behind the monitor.
Looking at every angle to bashing others people.
Yet you don't even see how annoying and invalid you are, you think you are smarter than others, Nalod aka ANNOYED

We are comparing the performance of Shump from before the draft till now.
Did you see anything that the players from the link above are showing improvement? Did you even click in it?

You make it seem like he is nothing special but you can not see the qualities and improvements he has shown.
Say what is your call? Say it now, instead of mocking us. Are you saying he has no upside? Don't jump on the ship when he shows it on court...

You have as usual missed the point when it comes to people commenting on Iman's off season workout and pickup game footage. Iman is a highly talented draft pick. Our draft pick! So naturally we're going to focus on his progress and preparation. Instead of throwing salt on every positive comment
Why don't you explain why we are wrong in liking what we've seen from his kid that we drafted looking like a steal at 17!
First off, I was wrong about the idea that Iman Shumpert, who shares an agent with Amar’e Stoudemire, was taken in part to appease Happy Walters. The fact is multiple sources have told me that Shumpert’s workout were off the charts and that Donnie Walsh had Shumpert in his top 5 OVERALL in terms of athleticism and overall ability. Chris Singleton was the other choice to consider, but head coach Mike D’Antoni simply wanted “an athlete” and Shumpert is certainly that.

Back to Shumpert, you’d think that D’Antoni believes he can make the rookie into a playmaker with the basketball. But his key role, to me, is defending the basketball. You’ve read constantly here about my feeling on the significance of guarding the basketball, especially in the pick and roll. NBA Playbook did a great job in breaking down how certain elite guards in the NBA are defended and I’ve always agreed.

http://www.theknicksblog.com/2011/10/31/inside-draft-info-iman-shumpert-defending-the-pick-and-roll/
Since the pre draft workouts there's been nothing but reports and statements where people have changed their opinion of this kid as a reach to feeling he's a steal due to the talent he's shown.
So excuse me if I feel good about that and say a big "screw you" to your uninformed opinion based on nothing. As usual you offer nothing to support your position except bad jokes.

What is this comment about? Why are you hating on this kid? He's been keeping a good attitude during this awful lockout. He's showing us he's committed to his game and staying focused! Why are you making fun of his finances? Did he kick your dog or something?

The kid isn't out blowing money, even when in Vegas he didn't hangout all night in clubs Or casinos! You would think a Knick fan would be happy and proud of a 1st rd pick doing all this on his OWN! No help or direction from the team! He's kept himself positively engaged all summer and fall. SMH at some fans on this forum.

Grow up. never called you names. I don't label Nix, I might discuss his posts. Thats it. I use terms like "agree to disagree" but he still wants to convince me. Thats his choice.

I did watch the clips, and no, I can't compare him playing in the Acc against real comp vs. a work out video.

I mock the invalid coronation of this kids talent in the NBA. Its foolish to think anything else. He was not even a lottery pick!

Im rooting real hard and hope he does well. Just like Moz, Gallo, Wilson, Nay Nay special Nate, Rautins and others.

The guy is working out with his friends and shooting around. I looked like a god in my driveway and could hit all kinds of shots with no one playing. I appreciate him working out. They suppose to be working out.

I don't think it matters that Iman was in the ACC! From all reports he was killing the other top PG's in workouts! Basically all we're saying is the kid has some big upside for a 17th pick! Walsh felt he was top 5 on the whole draft.

Kid is a 6-6 PG/SG with elite athletic ability, handle, defense, rebounds and he draws fouls. He already has an NBA body! Exactly what is there to be reticent about? If this was Landry before SL where we had no idea what we had I could understand but this kid seems like he slipped thru the cracks. The buzz started at the combines and then the reports of his workouts suggesting he could shoot much better than it was thought. Now we see his work ethic is just what you want. Other media guys that have seen him say he's got something special and then we have your Debbie Downer comments and it seems misplaced and odd for a Knick fan.

We know it's all premature but it's still very encouraging.

I actually like that he's practicing his shot, but otherwise, these vids don't show much, unless you're a workout enthusiast and you want some tips for yourself. Then it's a great video. In terms of judging how his NBA career will turn out, it shows nothing.

Nate Robinson probably does workouts that we can't even dream of doing!

I will say that that part of the video that shows him doing hard dunk after dunk is impressive. That looks tiring! Nice anaerobic workout for a superiorly trained athlete. The guy is only 6'5" remember.

It's not just the workout videos. It's what we also already know of him as a prospect. Iman has a legit boatload of talent and skill. When have we had a kid with his mix of size, speed, skill and explosiveness? He's bigger, nearly as fast and jumps higher than Westbrook! He is a defensive hawk but also a scorer. All this we already know about him, but he has shown that what people considered his big flaw isn't the weakness many thought it was. Kid isn't a bad shooter.

A kid with his game could have a big impact on a team like ours. I'm hopeful that he has the kind of game that translates well in the NBA. Once he gets adjusted he should help a lot with our backcourt defense.

I understand your point, but where is he playing? Can he play the PG? If so, cool beans, but if not, we may have a problem. Is he gonna play the 2? With Landry? If he's playing the 2, where is he getting his shots from?

nix, first off, where does it say in my post that the kid's blowing cash? I made the post out of curiousity, which I expressed in other threads, about how Iman is getting financed. Someone said it was agents fronting him cash, which I figured could possibly be the only redeeming quality an agent may have. The question is even more pointed now that paychecks to people who are actually under contract are soon going to stop. Traveling across the country, last I heard, costs money, or does it in your world? End of comment.

secondly, SMA, buddy. Just because I'm not ready to lick the crust out of every jockstrap in the NBA, doesn't mean I'm not a Knicks fan. Shump is an incredible talent; I'm a fan of the team, and I've never said I'm not happy he's our pick. In other posts I've poked fun at his workout vids...big deal. Jeezus dude, do you keep lifesize cutouts in your bedroom?

Back off, player boy. We get it.
