And I hope you choke on a chicken wing while posting on a hockey board. The whole chicken wing.

I hate hockey

take that back!

fun sport to watch but no playing interest or pro interest. Kinda where I am getting with pro basketball. Everything about the NBA and the Knicks makes me like the sport and team less and less every year. Walsh could have built a team worth watching. At this point I have as much desire to follow this team as I have to see Dolan's band play.

Of course the board could always use another Islesfan. Maybe I can take that role?

hockey is the most fun sport to watch... and I definitely like chatting with fans in the blues and yelling at the other team's fans. The hockey lockout made sense because the friggin blues cost $50 a pop. Dolan is probably going to price out the Knicks fans that know what's happening before it happens... Another hockey price bump and I can't see the blue collar guys coming and, uh, enjoying $14 imports and sushi.

but that's all tangent... I haven't been a pro basketball fan in quite some time. I've remained a Knicks fan but Isiah's last full year I went a Knicks strike and didn't watch one game. Much to my surprise I didn't even miss it. Dolan has really robbed me of my childhood love for the team. Maybe that's why I was completely in favor of the Melo deal... haven't been to the Garden for April/May basketball in quite some time, forget about June. I'm not invested the way I was. All the homegrown guys were just names and numbers

Long ramble, I know, but I get more enjoyment watching college hoops and riding shotgun to see who makes it and who doesn't. But the pro game(s) to me are like punk and ska... used to go to the Birch Hill and see all the up-and-comers when I was a teen, but it became a bigger and bigger cash cow and that scene is dead, and that club is long gone. I loved that scene and the songs I used to love I no longer love. But, hey, on the bright side I can listen to Green Day and their clones give interviews on politics and/or Screamin A. Smith and Skip Bayless maintain intelligent discourse whenever I want.

Good take, I can't fathom why I give two sheets and a phuck any more. I watched a lot of games last year and was very into the fist half of the year. Then we got "Melo'd".

I liked the energy of Ray, the coming of age of Gallo, and the Moz was in a word, THE MOZ!

Its water under the bridge but I liked that team. After the trade I watched some but really did not expect much.

So why am I here?

Good question.

That trade ripped my heart out.. and as I watch this bafoon melo parade around like he was some home grown NY ball player and his washed up DJ wife on reality TV, it makes me more sick to my stomach.. I really thought the knicks were onto something with the kids and developing gallo.. but whatever.. they can keep these bums locked out as far as I am concerned.. some of these owners and players deserve one another...

Naturally the owners need to stop being stupid but being stupid is being stupid in hindsight. Isiah thought Eddy would live up to the money. Teams thought Rashard Lewis would and could have gotten better. Travis Outlaw has the potential to step it up. Teams are competitive and willing to pay up if they think it can get them value.

The market for large centers is thin and a guy like Jerome James who had a great playoff series was seen as a rising commodity and Isiah paid up. Why a guy does it for a contract year is pretty apparent but sometimes players mature and want to leave their mark on the game and get paid.

Dumb contracts are easy to spot after the fact, but there are guys like BIllups who talents ahve dropped some continued to be a presence in other ways. Where Marbury was not.

The league will be better wth rules to help teams from being stupid.

Lets hope in time Stat and Melos contract are not stupid in hindsight!

These are very different situations. If Eddy Curry hadn't gotten any better and remained the player he was under Larry Brown, he would have been worth that money. U pay a premium for size in the nba and for what he was doing it was fair market value, imo. he avged about 9 mil per for us. Thats not bad for a guy his size who was a solid big guy with potential to be good. The problem with Eddy Curry is he stopped playing basically. He couldnt stay in shape and just really regressed as a player. had no discipline signed the contract and mailed it in. He wasn't overpaid for what he did, he got paid and stopped playing. He is the case against guaranteed money. Just a fat, lazy m'****er. Thats a different issue than Rashard Lewis.

Rshard Lewis was never worth anything close to what he got. He makes more money than Lebron! He's the 2nd highest paid player in the league. Hes right behind Kobe. He never ever under any circumstances deserved that kind of money. its like 10 - 12 million dollars per year too much!! Even if he was playing his best and exceeded expectations, he wasnt worth nearly that much. This is the owners and GMs being incompetent and overpaying because theyre stupid. Did they think he was gonna be Michael Jordan?

ORlando took Rashard on in hope the would be deputy dog to Dwight.

Since they fear Dwight might bolt they are trying hard to do what it takes to win.

So the Hostage theory is in play with Dwight.

My point is why were owners so stupid? Its easy to evaluate in hindsight with Eddy and Rashard. Arenas got a freaking extension while coming back from a bad knee!

I have to give some teams credit as Arenas and H20 seemed to be (Stupidly of course) take care of as if there was some handshake commitment that they would be. If that is the case then you have owners living up to their word. Dolan is a very loyal owner and the H20 extension never made sense to me.

ON the flip side you had Carlos Boozer who was bolted on a technicality when Previous Cav owenr Gund promised to extend him but first had to rip up his old contract. When he did that Utah offered him 30 mil more.

Dolan paid Dlee, Nate and Wilson more than he needed than the qualified offer. Im not saying the owers are great people but some act in a fair manor and live up to commitments. Im sure there are many incidents of management screwing over players.
