Kurt is much welcomed however he is not a Center. We need a center.True, he bangs and all but we need a true. Flip

he did play great for Chicaco, when Noah and even Boozer out too. Taj Gibson deserves some of the credit as well.

Gibson + Kurt Thomas > Amare + Kurt > Melo + Kurt

Gibson has the speed of a 3 and long reach. Size is right between a sf and undersized pf, He plays 110% on the defensive end though.

As great as he played during the season, he didn't play during the playoffs. I would have liked to see how he would have done too.

Either I agree he is not going to be an upgrade over Jared Jeffries.
I also agree he isn't what we need at center and we all know we need shot blocking, rebounding, and defense....
So we want someone that can do all three and hit a consistent 20 footer but we don't want to pay more than the veteran minimum or sign a decent amount of years
Now that is a problem....

This is the same reason I want to roll the dice on Sean Williams. I know he was a head case but he fits in the area where he provides all 3 and wouldn't cost much either....

Aaron Gray
Taigo Splitter
Reggie Evans, more of a rugged rebounding pf.

are some other options, but I think they will be looking for more than the veteran minimum and more than a 1 year deal.

Amir Johnson makes

5,000,000

$5,500,000

$6,000,000

$6,500,000

$7,000,000

we know what Haywood is making.... 12m +

what can we actually ask for the price want to pay?

Get me

Sean Williams
Greg Foster
Greg Smith

stop signing me PGs and SF's.

WE NEED CENTERS and PF/C!

KT is all about Know how. He still is one of the smartest defenders in the league and gets the job done against younger players that just don't have the depth of knowledge he does. It's not like he'll be brought in to carry the C spot. He's a reserve and a good one. He still moves his feet like a Ninja and knows how to use all the dirty tricks and his weight to his advantage. He's usually gonna be in there against the 2nd tier guys on the opponents team where he's still effective.

We of course need a real starting C, but as a reserve KT is a good short term option.

we don't have much roster spots left.

If

Josh Harrellson
Jerome Jordan
Ronny Turiaf

both aren't starting quality centers then go get 1, don't get me another back up. That is what I am saying....
Why get me another quality back up when we already have 3?

If Kurt Thomas plays "matador D" then Amare Stoudemire must be play defense like a Mexican bullfighter.

Kurt Thomas is a great defender. Not sure where "matador D" comes from. Even at 40, he'd be our best rebounder and one of our better defenders and that's just sad.

All you guys hating on Kurt Thomas, I'm not sure you've seen him play. The guy is a great low post defender.

You don't need to be able to block shots to be able to defend the low post.

Rose is not the answer.

Only one poster was "hating" on KT. Most others who have posted in this thread would be psyched to have him back in orange and blue. Dude is gamer and has more hoops knowledge in his pinky finger than Eddy Curry has in his continental-size midsection.

Ok not hating at all. But do you guys remember this guy as our center?
There was a layup line to the rim. KT can do a 3 things well, bang the open 15 footer.
Box out, and defend the post. The problem is the league doesn't have many post players for him to defend
t his age the main thing he'd be good for is picking and popping.

U are talking of the Kurt Thomas of 8-9 years ago..Next season will be his 17th year...

You must not have watched any Bulls games this year because Kurt played for his defense, not his offense. And he played it well too.

I like this move. With the Jorts pick and this move, it seems like we really are making a committment for D. That's 12 tough fouls a game right there.
