I believe he wanted Shumpert over whoever was available and trully values what he brings. To his credit., he started talking more about D last season. The Knicks had a great defensive showing against the Celtics. I really think MDA will allow a defensive specialist and will add defense to the qualities wanted in a player, as Iman here shows. I really think he wants to stay in NY and will do his best to stay here.
Yet MDA was also gushing about Shumpert's shooting.
I think the Knicks draft team was surprised by his shooting ability, and that's what made him an easy pick. Its going to be MDA's job to put Shumpert in a position on offense where he can succeed and not press too much or try to take too much onto his shoulders.
Just wish we had a chance to seem Shumpert and Harrellson play in the SL.
Not having SL does really suck. It's the one thing that makes the summer bearable. Remember how good Landry looked? I just think people are gonna have to come around on this kid but I think he's the right guy given our total lack of perimeter D. We've all seen how one great defender can change the way a team plays on D. I can't wait to see this kid and I believe he's gonna work extremely hard to learn what he needs to in order to be successful. He's one player we know will give 110% on D along with TD, which should make a real exciting pair.
