Why would the Suns want Chauncey for Nash? Are the salaries the same? Does Nash expire after next season as well? I am not clear on why Tommy D is even reporting this. As for any inclusion of Childress... my advice is "just say no". He is owed a lot of cash for the next few years and is not at all worth it.

I think the Suns only do it if the Knicks include money and some cap relief. Or cap relief and TD. Or something like Billups, purchased late first rounder and money. Maybe Nash has privately said that if he is traded his preference would be NYC.

All rumors at this point. like I said, Tommy D is a blogger. Not sure what sources he has.

The Suns emphatically have denied this. Trust sources are nice, but from the horses mouth is better.

Because every executive comes out and lays out his cards to the press, and lets his fans know that they might trade a popular player.

I'm not disagreeing- but wouldn't place much credence into what Phoenix management is saying.

We could be talking to the Suns but it could be about Lopez. He is unhappy there. Also, it just came out that Turiaf wasn't happy here??? That is a surprise since during the games he was the most emotional cheering player we had, especially when on the bench. How about a switch of Turiaf + cash for Lopez.

Lopez, IMO, isn't really a starting center. Maybe he can develop more?

That's very possible. Lopez had some injury issues last year, as did Turiaf, but if Phoenix is that committed to Gortat then could want to bring in somebody to back him up, and Turiaf could fit.

I would love if the Knicks got Lopez. I can't imagine they could get him for Turiaf.

No, not correct. Both Nash and Chauncey are expiring.

Literally the only trade scenario I can come up with that makes even a bit of sense in a Billups/Nash swap is if the Suns are able to nab Jimmer at #13. Then they have a guy who they can sell tickets.

Then perhaps they don't need Nash for that as much and they can do a Nash/Pietrus ($11.7+$5.3=$17M) for Billups ($14.2M)+ $3M Cash. PHO saves like $6M and they have someone to groom both Brooks and Jimmer for another year.

Perhaps PHO would be interested in taking Fields cause they need a shooting guard with Vince Carter leaving.

IMHO No way Knicks take on Warrick or Childress without Lopez coming this way.

The Suns probably won't trade Nash at all without something overwhelming. He's more valuable to Phoenix than to the rest of the league, so a deal won't happen because nobody will overwhelm Phoenix.

I don't disagree with this, but on the other hand they can't be too hasty either. He's an expiring with no real reason to stay after his contract is done, so they might as well try to get some value.

tough call on nash. dont know much about phoenix' ownership but nash brings in tons of revenue for the suns. he's the only one left from their glory years of a few seasons ago. people in phoenix go to suns games to see nash play. once he is gone from there, they will be in full rebuild mode - noone gonna pay to see childress or frye. so, until then, ownership needs to keep him in a suns uniform and maximize profits until his contract is up. they are also lucky he is an old school type who believes in loyalty to his team.

I don't love the idea of Nash...

but I think Robin Lopez would be a great fit next to Amar'e - possibly better than any big who will be available to the Knicks at 17.

I wonder if offering the Suns pick 17 and $3M would get it done?

Seems like Robin Lopez's name is being thrown around quite a bit. Don't be surprised to see him moved on draft night.

Don't know if the Knicks should move 17 for anything right now other than a higher pick. If they move 17 for anythign it'll probably be once they see how the draft is shaping up after pick 10.
