Would have to be for Thompson. He just makes so much sense and has been my number 1 pick since the beginning.

Isn't he kind of a one trick pony? I'd prefer a guy that has a more well rounded game.

It's all relative to price. If you're getting the pick for nothing, then yeah, do it. If you're giving up anything significant, it can't be worth it, can it?

Rumors now surfacing about talks w/ IND (15), others.

Hahn may have heard it from here (or other):

The Knicks are talking with Pacers to swap picks on draft night. Really want to add a shooter on draft night.

Singleton? Alec Burks? Klay Thompson?

huh, think the above is related to this?

I don't blame him. Those workouts were LAME. Sometimes you put a guy in a strange setting and you don't really get a true sense of him. He's not a scorer and so who cares if he looks a bit raw in that regard. We want to see him in a little game action and see how he moves, fights for position, reacts to the ball etc.

If the Knicks could get Dahntey Jones in this swap it would be sweet. And if we are moving up it is prolly for Klay imo. He may remind Walsh of Reggie.

He performs that one trick really well, but is actually more well rounded than most think. He is a strong all-around offensive talent with his ability to pass, handle, and finish. But he isn't a great defender. If we want a potential 2-way player than Brooks is the pick, but Thompson is such an ideal offensive fit.

i like Alec Burks over both of them. Not sure exactly why.

IMHO he is going to be a very good shooter when he figures out his form, decent defender, and a willing passer who can go either way on the dribble and plays the PnR.

Of the prospect highlights I've seen for guys that might be around where we pick, Alec Burks is the most NBA ready. I'd be very comfortable grabbing him.
Rose is not the answer.

I have to change our YouTube code, it only likes the v= form.

Burks reminds me of Fields but with more catch and shoot ability and better ball handling. Probably a better passer too. His shooting form - from shoulders to hands - reminds me of Michael Redd.

He is not an explosive athlete but more slithery. Doesn't seem super strong but has the frame to get strong enough. Only 19.

The thing I really like: 1) he can catch and shoot quickly enough and has very good form, 2) he can turn the corner to the basket and is a very willing passer 3) he has the tools to be a decent defender for his position.

Those things compliment Melo, Amare very well; i can see him being a starter for a long time, and that's what you want with a #17 pick.

I wish Alec Burks would fall to 17 but I know that isnt going to happen.

Marshon Brooks is currently better than Alec but Marshon is also 2 yrs older.

Which brings us to that draft prospect: Klay Thompson. He's a shooting guard from Washington State and, yes, he reminds me a lot of Miller -- at the same stage in their careers. ... After Thompson worked out for the Bucks Wednesday at the Cousins Center, I couldn't help but tell Thompson how he is, in so many ways, similar to Miller. Much to my surprise, and delight, Thompson said I was the second person in recent days who had favorably compared him to Miller. That other person, Thompson said, was none other than the man who drafted Miller for the Pacers. 'Donnie Walsh told me that, too, after I worked out for the New York Knicks,' Thompson said of the Knicks president and general manager. 'I shot the ball pretty well in their workout and, because we have similar builds and similar size, Donnie told me how I really, strongly reminded him of Reggie Miller.' "

DX got him there right now, so I suspect it's a possibility.

I gotta think that SOMEONE the Knicks really like or need is going to fall to them. <crosses fingers>

I first wrote how he reminded me a bit of Ray Allen, specifically @ the 1:21 mark, but I think you're more on line with the Michael Redd comparison. His shot seems very fluid and I could see him being trouble for opponents who couldn't recover on a kick out to him. I would really like this pick.

If by chance he did fall, what happens to Fields? Does he get traded or just come off the bench?

I tend to favor Brooks a little more then the others but its really close. Thompson, however is probably the best fit next to Melo and Amare. Dude is a lethal shooter and has great size. With Melo and Amare, you dont need guys that have sticky hands and is going to play around with the ball much. Brooks strikes as this type of player whereas Thompson can catch and shoot ans be effective.
