Mark is a great guy with a ton of character. I am happy he got a job and wish him lots of success. This from Isola today really bothers me.

Mike D'Antoni doing all he can to save coaching job with Knicks in aftermath of Donnie Walsh exit

Mark Jackson was poised to hire Bernie Bickerstaff and Del Harris as his assistant coaches and even return Mike Saunders to his old job as head trainer.

From every indication Donnie Walsh had given him, Mark Jackson, the Brooklyn-born point guard out of St. John's, was about to become the next Knicks head coach in 2008. But then Mike D'Antoni was out of Phoenix and with the league office, which had encouraged James Dolan to hire Walsh, now pushing Walsh to hire D'Antoni, Jackson's dream job was finished.

I have to admit I still would have picked D'Antoni first but knowing what I do now, that's another story.

Another quote from the Isola article CrushAlot just posted:

"And for two years, D'Antoni would become downright belligerent when it was suggested that bringing in someone to run the defense might be in the team's best interest.

After all this time, D'Antoni realizes that such a move is in his own best interests.

He owed it to the organization, the players and Walsh to do that from Day One. It's too late now. Walsh is gone, D'Antoni is working on borrowed time and four years after he was ready to come to work for Walsh at Madison Square Garden, Mark Jackson finally gets to prove if he has the chops to be an NBA head coach."

The prophet predicts new coach (inexperienced) ex-knick Mark Jackson
coach of GS Warriors will have > wins the 2011/2012 season than my pal
Mr M. D'Antoni.

The 42-40 Knicks under D'Antoni wont have to do much to better WARRIORs
record and though its moot point since Warriors in the tough west conf.
I feel Mark will do well! and predict Warriors 44-38 and our Knicks 43-39
under D'Antoni.

Warriors will miss the 2012 playoffs, but Knicks will get in thus save
D'Antoni's job a little longer!

We all True Blue Knicks fans 'Love' Captain Mike D'Antoni so much we could not pass the opportunity to talk about a brooklyn
born ex knick & REAL NewYorker Mark Jackson without mentioning Coach Mike D'Antoni in honor of Mark.

Mark got Tons of Character
Mike got Tons of SH_T and bull talk as shown on his Post game press conferences after a Knick loss

Mark speaks favorably and highly about NY team and NY City
Mike takes pot shots at NYK fans, complains about booing and also took 4ever to warm up to his best support system
NY knickerbocker fans

Mark got chance to talk of his 1st priorities with GS Warriors, that is Defense -D, Deee-fence & implementing it quickly
Mike often avoids defense talks regarding Knicks, D'antoni gets defensive and now he is rumored to be thinking of some
D specialist which is something he hates to admit.

We have to wish Mark as Isola says "ALL THE BEST for Success"

One day we wish same for D'Antoni and our knicks if coach Mike lasts that long. Time will tell

Mark is a favorite of mine and i would've had no problem with him as coach, but let's be real here. Mike was a proven coach with real NBA experience. When Mark wins 60 games and gets his team to the WCF's for the 1st time then you can talk about him being on par with Mike. Right now Mark is all potential, he's done nothing.

As for defense, this team was never setup to be a good defensive team. The 1st 2 years we weren't even trying to field a winning team per se. The object was to clear cap space. When we needed a PG or C we never went hard after a guy to fill that need because we were trying to clear cap space. Now we have 2 players at the top of our team that aren't great defenders historically. If they don't change their attitude there's no amount of coaching that can fix that problem. You know what will fix that problem? Find a big that can do the dirty work so that STAT doesn't feel he has to conserve fouls or energy by not defending. If We can give STAT help so his minutes can be reduced and he doesn't have to bang against C's then this will improve the team. If we don't fix that problem and just add another coach that ain't gonna do squat.

the best part of this is that we no longer need to hear his commentary during nba games...

really liked jax as a player...

but as an announcer, ugh...as a coach, i dunno...i wouldn't take the risk unless i could afford it...

the knicks...cannot afford to take the risk right now...

Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

Haha true... but Spoelstra and Rivers (from the little I've listened to them) weren't repetitive
