Walsh said he did the trade, was on board with the trade and had everything to do with the trade. People who like Walsh and hate Dolan, continue to reproduce this fiction that Walsh had nothing to do with it or didn't want to do it. There is no indication that that is true. Meanwhile, there is every indication that the opposite is true. If you want to live in the world of speculation and fantasy thats fine, just acknowledge it as such.

I agree with you Bonn - but Melo was 10x worse - we had to trade a ton of assets AND we have to pay him the max. And to think that if we did NOT get Melo, Utah would have been talking to us about Deron Williams....

Hands down the funnest thing in the thread...... on what world was the knicks the next team the Jazz was going to contact about secretly moving Deron Williams????

But I still need to come to terms with why people say we gave up alot or over payed because it doesn't seem it to. Seems to me that what the knicks had wasn't very valuable.

In an attempt to create a conspiracy against Dolan (whom I dislike just as much as the next guy) you have indicted Donnie Walsh as a liar. Either Donnie is an honorable, standup guy or he's a liar. Which is it? And if he's a liar what makes him so great? I actually believe the man when he says that he himself liked, endorsed and was a major part of the Carmelo Anthony deal. He said he would have liked to have given up less throughout but in the end a decision had to be made and he feels that the decision was a very good one. Said that it was very tough decision (giving up Gallo and the fellas), but he felt it was for the best. He said it emphatically and, I believe, truthfully. In fact if I remember correctly he said that he wanted to get role players at the deadline and then get the star player in the off-season originally. But based on the situation, they reversed it and got the star player now and then focus on role players in the off-season. That was on one of those radio interviews (I forget which one). Contrary to popular believe, I believe Walsh to be an honest guy. He even publicly acknowledged what he feels was a mistake in the T-MAC deal. Most men in his position would have defended it in order to keep their image and status in tact. Save face. There are very few men that I feel have integrity in that business. We don't know these men personally, but my feeling is that this guy has got some integrity. I believe him.

The job of a leader and executive is to take the responsibility for everything done under his watch.
This is the main thing he is paid for.
Walsh may not like Melo trade but he took full responsibility for it and for all other moves done by the Knicks with him being the man.
But at the end of the day he knew that this (starpunch) is not what he does so he left when the time of his responsibility went off.
Dolan and man like Donny are not compatible. Dolan should be surrounded by morans and snakes. Any decent people make him look as a clown.
So I think the Knicks world is drifting back to old normal after fans were fooled yet again.

When Dolan reportingly took control of the trade negotiations is the moment your looking for.

Donnie plays the diplomat all too often.

I don't fault him for leaving.

A key phrase thru all this is him admitting in so many words that in the next two years he does not feel like the team is a true contender.

Thats what Im reading between the lines. Donnie got money, but his legacy is incomplete. We don't know the CBA and we don't know if we are hamstrung by it.

Team will be good going forward. How good? Contending I doubt. BUt it could still be fun.

we are still talking about the Melo trade? After Donnie Walsh said he was involved and approved the trade?

Yeah man I don't understand it either. We've got 2 All Stars in their prime and still have a 1st rd pick this year. It's all good far as I can see. We have to improve the overall depth, but that isn't the hardest thing to resolve. We did the hardest thing which was finding PROVEN top tier talent. We know STAT and Melo won't shrink in the big moment. If this team is healthy we'll be competitive. Let's see how things unfold this draft and with FA's.
I think that is the problem. I think the Knicks have traded every other pick in the first round that they have until 2017 but I am not positive. That is pretty scarey.

Walsh also said that he didn't know why people had a problem with an owner getting involved in negotiations because it is his team. This was in regards to the Melo trade.

It is no problem if owner is involwed. But if moronic idiot is involwed than it is a problem.

We don't have too much luck with our first round picks anyway.
