We really need a PG unless BRIGGS' plan is to wait for 2012 to sign CP3/DW as a FA. I could get on board with that. If we can sign us a big in this draft that woud develop over his rookie season (ine the NBA, preferably) then we can make due with TD as a backup PG and hope he grows a brain before the All-Star break.

If he was 6-9 240 I wouldnt say a word. But guys 6-11+ 260 with long arms & his skills dont grow on trees. Hes a good player--i just had no idea he was physically that big. In terms of ready to play--he can help the team now in a position of need.I like this kid and Marshon Brooks--those are the two id be targeting. I think both are very skilled and ready to go now. We do have a PG and i think a trade or a 1 year rental is better than spending the pick on someone who cant contribute immediately on a win now team.

He'll be a good pick if he's there. In some ways, he seems like a bigger David Lee.

Seems to have a lot of the same attributes as Marc Gasol. I am very interested.

Vucevic is sitting out the skill drills parts of draft combine workouts, which usually means a guy is moving up in the draft.

Just look what the skill 7 footers are doing tonight. A pg is a PG but show me how many skill 7 foot 260 pound guys with good post moves(and the bread and butter of his game is)range out to three with excellent rebounding skills are out there?

Maybe he got a promise from us??? He would sub in as the New GalloMoz for the fans....LOL

I see he averaged 10 boards in college. If he as skilled as some are describing him and he does double digit board work, this great out of the center position.

no one in the league gives up centers.
They usually take a couple of years to develop.

Bynum
McGee
Hibbert
Lopez

were all players we could have drafted. We needed centers every year but never went for these high ceiling players.

Not many centers come in the league and come out strong like Duncan did, even though he played PF. And had a great mentor in Robinson, system, and coach.

With that said, I don't know if we have time to go after a project center. I am not refering to Vucevic, just a high ceiling center in general.
I can see Amare and Melo deteriorating before their contracts end as a Knick. Question is how big will their jump off be and will they be able to adjust.

Dalembert and Humpries are the best FA we can possibly sign if the MLE exist.
However, they will be highly courted by every team contending as well.
I can see the Nets offering more than the MLE money to keep him.
I don't know if we can win Dalembert over all the other contending teams especially Boston, Heat, Orlando, Atlanta.

Regardless we need to fill find a way to fill that center hole.
We might have to be content with

Greg Foster
Dampier
and D league talent

But we also have holes in

future PG *unless TD develops* or a cost efficient player like Sessions or Rindnour starts for us. And splits it with TD.
SG Fields still has time to develop, but if we are going to go all in 2012, I believe Fields can't be resigned as well.

backup g/f
backup C
backup f

in 2012 Nash, Ray Allen, and KG will be free agents.
With the way they are playing now, would u guys be interested in trying to add all 3 instead of going after Cp3?
Would you also outbid other teams by offering them 3-5 year deals?

I think Garnett is 30 minute game away from being washed up. I'll have to reserve judgement on Nash. Allen would be ideal, but I don't if he will be able to start for a title contender in another year.

No to KG.
No to Nash unless it's vet minimum (too old).
Yes to Ray if it's a reasonable (2 year) deal.

Vucevic and Lucas Noguiera aka "The Brazilian Marcus Camby" are the 2 centers I am most intrigued with.

There seems to be quite a few PG's.
There are a also are a couple tweeners that are G/F.

However, we decide to draft, we will have to find another way to fill in our holes as Free Agents, D League, and our limited trading potential.

Fields
I don't know would we get better value to trade him as the middle of the season or in the summer.
I think he will work out hard and improve but judging him from last years performance, his skills didn't mesh with the Knicks after Melo came.
Bill Walker I thought would have been a better starter. He is a spot up shooter and not a great defender.

Fields had no chemistry with Melo and the stagnant Iso plays. He can't predict when Melo was going to shoot, if he would drive or pullup, and wasn't able to time n crash for the rebound. He doesn't have the handle to create his own shot and there wasn't enough ball movement to earn him the first step that Felton, Gallo, and Wilson Chandler created.
Most importantly his contract ends after this year, if we decide to keep him, it will take away from our ability to sign free agents.
I think all 3 of those players and the system itself made Fields, I hope he finds himself a role and improves.
I don't see him being able to become that player in one year, I would be throwing his name around and see what we can get out of him during draft date.
I would be looking to get 2 2nd rounders or a late 1st rounder, we have to at least get an idea of what the league would pay for him.
I could also look to acquire a PG like Sessions or Ridnour. Those guys wouldn't be able to do a straight up deal because Fields makes like 800k.

With our team right now, we need our starting SG to be able to have a good handle and good decision maker, great defense, and great shooter.
There aren't many players in the league that can do that, most can only do 2/3 of what we need. A player like Ariza, plays great defense, improved on his shot but doesn't have the handle. That is a lot to ask for, its a very rare player, and its basically a younger Joe Johnson. A player like this is truly a gem and would take the pressure away from TD.
I am not sure if Shannon Brown and Grant hill are 2 poorer versions that fit this description. They are not close to Joe Johnson but they can be obtained with only the MLE.

If we missed out on Dalembert

Splitting the MLE on
Shannon Brown
Grant Hill

Target Greg Foster and/or Dampier on the vet bi annual exception or vet min.
and signing Sean William from the D League.
I am not sure if we should let Jordan play another year overseas or bring him in and let Turiaf/Amare mentor him, especially Turiaf since its his last year if he doesnt opt out.

again, we have to fill our needs at

starting

PG
SG
C

Billups,Sessions,TD
Walker,TD,
Melo, Shawne William
Amare, Sean Will, Turiaf
Dalembert, Foster, Vucevic/Lucas Noguiera Jordan

or

Billups,TD
Grant Hill/Shannon Brown, Walker
Melo/Shawne Williams, Walker
Amare/ Vucevic
Foster, Sean William, Turiaf, Jerome Jordan

or

Billups, TD
Grant Hill, Shannon Brown, Walker
Melo, Shawne Williams, Walker
Amare/Sean Williams,Turiaf
Foster, Lucas Noguiera, Turiaf, Jerome Jordan

Just say no to a Euro big who wants to be a SF. I don't want my center shooting 3s. I'm going to watch same game tape of him tonight tho.

No no--hes a post player primarily who has the ability to shoot from 3. He was very effective in the post against the Morris twins when they went to him.

From looking at the clips Vucevic has decent passing but plays outside? Does anyone have clips of him banging down low... grabbing offensive rebounds, blocking shots, etc?
Rose is not the answer.
