Who says Melo would have wanted to play with Randolph? I doubt Melo holds out as long as he did with Randolph here

Zach is a very good player. If Melo doesn't want to play with him, there is something wrong with him (Melo).

Stability

Can you imagine if we still had the defensive expertise of Don Chaney?

As you watch former Knicks Zach Randolph, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Trevor Ariza and Jamal Crawford, simply think about one word - continuity. Imagine the resources and money that have been squandered with the poor choices of executives.

The thing which has stunted the growth of the Knicks franchise the most is front office continuity.

I still miss Ernie Grunfeld.

I am happy zach is playing well now.. but for me, I love the shot blocking ability of amare at PF...zach just doesn't offer much if anything at all on the defensive end...

In my opinion, Zach has certainly changed and matured a lot. His main issues were character issues, and his secondary issue was not playing a team game. I think he's improved considerably in both areas. I'm happy for him. However, I don't hold the illusion that he would've been able to mature in the same way dealing with the NY media and in the NY environment. We really didn't have the right roster to make the proper use of his talents anyway. The guys we had were not good compliments to his game.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

shot blocking versus rebounding.

Either way, Marc Gasol makes Zbo look much better than Amare with no one next to him.

Zach Randolph is the same player he always was. He actually is surrounded by solid players now to cover is deficiencies on defense.

my recall:

zach was f'g horrendous his one full year here. sure he picked up a decent number of points and boards but played zero D and was truly a black hole on O.

the next year he was off to a great start with mda. really like what i saw re: him and dlee passing to one another in the paint.

at the same time donnie let it be known we were all in for 2k10 - lebron + 1. based on how dismal zach was in his one full season and the hopes of hitting it big in 2k10 i was more than ok for losing him and his huge-ass contract.

he’s played great since and i'm glad for him but i don’t regret the move we made based on the circumstances at that time.

Let's not forget that the dude was also playing for a contract this year too. I like Eddie Winslow and I'm glad he had good season and playoffs. But that dude just has way too much baggage to be pining over.

I am very glad we got Amare over either DLee or Zach. However I always liked Zach, and posted that many times. He is a consistent 20/10 scorer/rebounder. Say whatever you want to say about Zach to put him down, but there aren't many players who can do that. It just ain't that easy.

When Zach came here, he had a bad off-court reputation but his on-court rep was fine. Can you imagine teams wanted us to give up our 1st round pick plus young players so they would take a 20/10 player, in his prime, off of our hands. Ha! When Zach played for us, the problem wasn't Zach, it was our coach (Isiah), management (Dolan and Isiah) and the rest of the team.

I'm happy for Zach.

Zach Randolph is in a good spot where he's at. He has a very deep team to support him (much like what he had in Portland). He has a great center, great wing help, a decent point guard. He is in an excellent position to succeed.

Amare is still the better player, and they would not have worked together. They both clog the lane and neither defend very well and neither are centers.

Rose is not the answer.

You are waisting your breath about Zach and Crawford, this forum hated them the same way they hated Zeke. Had Crawford and Zach not been traded that year by us we probably would have went into the second round of the play offs. They were playing better than what we have now but no one wants to hear it. Now we have 2 very good players and nothing else.

Memphis provides an excellent template for blending patience and yoots.

Sometimes you need patience for veterans. Zach is a perfect example of a guy who had an epiphany thanks to his coach, Lionel Hollins, and a bunch of unselfish running buddies who don't know any better than to share the pill. Zach of 2011 is NOT Zach of 2008. He was always a fearless performer. The difference? Friday night he smiled.

Memphis is dangerous.

You guys never give people time to gel. Ready to throw Zach under the bus. The man was a good player when he was hear and was good when we got rid of him. We never got the real value for him when we traded him. Hello LeBron James! OHH he didn't come here. My mistake LOL

papa i don't think it's the same case with every guy. what if we had gotten rid of marbury when he went 21 and 9 for us? or eddy when he went 19 and 7? guys would have been screaming their heads off but those would have been BRILLIANT moves, cause they stunk after that and we were forced to pay them huge portions of our cap while they sat.

you honestly watched zach his full year here and thought he played well? honestly?? and you didn’t see a huge difference the next year during his summer league and early regular season play under mda? well i did. and under different circumstances i would have loved to have kept him. but after what we had just been through in the layden/thomas years, for a guy to come in and say we're gonna take this $125M team that can’t even get 30 f'g wins and gut it and go after lebron and another max in 2 years i'd say hell to the f'g yeah throw my mother in too to balance the numbers if you need to.

Ever notice the "most users on site was 554 on 11/21/2008 8:55 PM" line on the forum front page? The day of the Randolph-Crawford trades. So I imagine there was a wide range of opinion about it that day... but it feels like ages ago at this point!

I hardly remember how I felt about those guys at the time anymore: I know I didn't hate Crawford as much as most people, and wasn't a big Randolph fan for fairly superficial reasons.

Like said upthread, Zach + maturity + a Gasol > Zach - 3 years + Curry + Lee. Good luck to the homie in the next round.

SOmetimes guys mature. Zachwas good befor ewe got him and good after we traded him. His head was never fully screwed onto the team concept. It is now. I always liked his game, but without a 7 fotter next to him, it was not good. Him and D. Lee on the same squad is a recipe for disaster as they both don't play D.

I'm happy for Zach. Hes finally put it all together. Most guys dont. Every good player doesn't work in every situation. He didnt work for ours. Smile, be happy for him and move on.

Crawford on the other hand...is the exact same player. In the closing minutes of one of the games against Orlando Crawford crossed back and forth quickly, get his man way off balance and shot a fading to the side 3. Airball. Walked into the huddle talking about "my bad". They won in spite of his boneheaded play. He's 30 btw. Good in the right situation, not the kind of player i want on my team.

Can you imagine if we still had Zach Randolph?
