NYKbocker - if you were a rival GM with a 6'11 stud at center, would you give him away for Landry Fields and Toney Douglas?

C'mon. The most valuable commodity is high quality talent and lottery picks. The Knicks have neither to offer that another team covets.

Unless you can name them.

Here's C2D's list from the Chauncey Thread:

I like Shelden and would bring him back considering he will cost peanuts.
Guys we can possibly get the for veterans minimum and should go after:
Reggie Evans
Chuck Hayes
Kenyon Martin
Leon Powe
Chris Wilcox
Jeff Foster
Kurt Thomas
Etan Thomas
Theo Ratliff
These guys will probably get the MLE but I would go after them anyway:
Samuel Dalembert, Kris Humphries

I can see where you're coming from C2D. If we could get any of these bigs to replace Jefferies/Walker etc who wouldn't want to do it in a hearbeat?

Would LOVE Chuck Hayes. He compliments Amare perfectly and is a sneaky good passer.
Reggie Evans/Kenyon Martin will both beast on the glass and have a nasty edge which we need.
Always have a soft spot for Durty Kurty.
Jeff Foster is a solid vet and plays hard.
Dalembert would be awesome at center and protects the rim.
Humphries shocked the hell out of me but love his game.

Not as high on Wilcox, Ratliff, Etan Thomas.

Question is...is the lure of playing with Melo/Amare/Chauncey and for 'players coach' MDA in the Garden enough for these guys to not take higher offers elsewhere?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

A. No

Penciling in a guy like Jerome Jordan as a starter is never a good idea.

Exactly

We need three centers. Auditions are open to anyone over 6'10.

The cynical side of me agrees with you. Which then means that DW will have to

a) hope that stability with teammates and coaches help ShawnE, Landry, TD, and whoever stays get better

b) find diamonds in the rough from DLeague, Europe, Free agent pool vs. competing with a desperate team and overpaying for Reggie Evans and dealing with sarcastic writers like Bill Simmons who will say something like

"Because it's always a good idea to commit [insert ridiculous sum of $] and [long contract length] for Reggie Evans and Leon Powe"

c) hit another HR in the draft with a low pick.

The optimist in me hopes that Child2Dudley is right and we can land someone who will hunt down rebounds and defend in the post without overpaying.

GodSave - you are a scholar and a gentlemen

a) when Toney Douglas is our longest tenured Knick (and he not a starter), stability is essential. No more midseason trades.

b) if Donnie discovers ONE 6'10 diamond in the rough from DLeague, Europe or the Free agent pool he is Man Of The Year. Two, he should be anointed for sainthood

c) There is no low pick to hit another HR in the draft with. The Knicks only have the one selection to make at 17.

Bonus Draft Picks are not on sale at Target, Walmart or Sam's Club.

Bismack Biyombo, the nightmare from the Congo, or Kenneth Faried, the double-double machine would make excellent additions. Shoring up our defensive capabilities and rebounding should be our priority. We don't have the second rounder this yeat, but one can be picked up to add the penetrating PG.

Thank you kind sir. Stability - not sexy - but good. Hopefully this means Dolan tells Walsh what he wants to hear and reups all the people he wants to keep.

Upwards and Onwards.

Late first rounders will be sold before the draft, just like the pick we used to TD (think it was for him).

I think the Knicks are in trouble if they are counting on Jerome Jordan and I don't see how he starts unless it is for token minutes. He did not look anywhere close to NBA ready last summer. I am sure he is improving as a player but I still can't see him being a starter or having a significant role on this team especially if the team has any kind of success.
