Suddenly, we have a full team again.

I'd rather keep the pick and try to find some more size and rebounding help. TD just burned out on me this playoff series. He's too streaky and he makes so many knucklehead moves (e.g., jumping before passing, turnovers galore, bricking off the front of the rim over and over... you get the picture).

I wonder if Denver would even want Billups back (we know Chauncey would LOVE to return home). Did the Knicks insist on him being part of the deal, or was that a ruse? I can't imagine why we would have wanted him over Felton.

Whoever wanted who - it's kinda obvious that Felton and Chandler and Mozgov aren't working out in Denver. Both Felton and Wilson tailed off after a hot start there. Wilson barely played in the last OKC/DEN game.

Getting Billups back gives them a guy who WANTS to be there, they get an extra first round pick, they don't have to deal with signing Wilson and they don't have to deal with Felton wanting to be a starter.

an allstar and a 1st rounder for 3 back-ups...sounds reasonable

Gotta hope someone is willing to discount their wages to play here. MLE only has so much value. IMO keeping Billups also gives our existing Free Agents a little leverage in asking for more dough.

Yeah, but they'd all start here. Those three guys would probably combine for 90 minutes a game for this team, whereas Chauncey would get... 30... if we're lucky?

Choosing between Chauncey and a POSSIBLE $8M in cap space pretty much is a no-brainer. Now we just need to hire the guy who keeps Steve Nash and Grant Hill healthy all season.

+1

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I guess that came out sarcastic...i was going for irony...the irony is that Denver would probably say it's not enough

Not surprised at the pickup. Somewhat indifferent to it. Billups is good people at the same time you kind of wonder what's truly in the best interest of the team. In February it was said we were picking up his option so more than likely this was part of the deadline trade deal.

I love the idea of getting Mosgov back. He and his woman LOVE NYC. He had some good moments here, and seemed to be cracking the glass. He's a very good fit skill wise next to Amare and he's huge and athletic. We know he's a super hard worker, and we know the guys left on the team all liked him.

would you trade the pick + Balkman and cash for Mosgov alone?

I dont think sending Billups back to Denver makes sense. Denver moved him for $$$ savings. I think it put something like $18mm in the owners pocket in saved salary and luxury tax. Thats a lotta cheddar. Denver was highly financially motivated to work with the Knicks vs. Nets, who from a BB standpoint had a better offer.

Probably goes without saying he'd like to be back home if given the chance but Karl has his Carolina guys running his show...he's not to interested in having Billups back as he wants to speed the tempo of his young team up a little.

Interesting thought on pick + Balkman...... heck I'd do Balkman/Boston's 2nd/Cash for Koufos

Nash and Hill are very into nutrition.

...I like that dude's a real pro. Very happy to have him back...much easier to find a b/u PG

BTW...it looks like we are officially over the cap next season assuming Turiaf exercises his option

Time for Donny to work his magic again....

Wasn't crazy about the way he was playing (decision wise) before he went down but it sounds like Billups wants to do better and he is the kind of guy who seems serious when he says something like that. If Chauncey's healthy next season that could be a real plus and make things easier on Stat and Melo.

This is good news - but we realistically need to find a solid backup PG, a C and probably a true SG. I will settle for 2 of the 3 but it's going to be tough to pull off.

Then we need to worry about our bench.

really the only option with chauncey. you can't let him walk. knicks have $45 mil committed without him. if he walks and the CBA puts the cap figure at $53-55 mil, they likely only have the $ for one FA. bring him back and they should still get a MLE. plus his expiring contract is an asset in itself, as we saw with curry.

billups has been to, what, 7 conference finals. he's also a finals MVP and a champion, definitely a good guy to have in the locker room.

This was definitely the right decision. If Chauncey is committed to doing this thing, then I'm on board. Also, is it fair to say that with a hard cap or lower cap threshold, expiring deals might be all that more valuable? Especially a deal as hefty as this one?

I hopeit also indicates we are drafting a PG and trading for a big. Billups can mentor any youn PG, probably the best guy to do so. Now we just need to make a trade for a C or sign on of the FAs.Get me those effin rebounds, Donnie.

OasisBU - focus. And don't be greedy.

Donnie Walsh needs to scour the earth for one thing and ONE thing only. A legit center.

A C E N T E R

Two centers would be even better but just one center would fill the huge donut hole left by Mozgov.

The bench can be filled by the best summer leaguers left standing after Las Vegas
