No it was not a good effort. But he did get better as the game went on. come to think of it I don't recall any PG's in the NBA stopping anyone this season in that scenario ...with the ball and a full head of steam coming straight to the hoop. Seems to me there was more than one defender at least once. And in each case Rondo had to alter his shot to get it up to the rim.

In that scenario playing off him is a losing proposition anyway. Should set in his path and make him go around hoping the help arrives.

Me I'm proud of the Knicks and there effort. There was no quit in them no matter how stacked against them the odds were. They fought hard. Still think they have a chance.

You are missing the point. I said I would cut the guy some slack if he just simply got killed by Rondo. But instead he played tentative, backpedaled and just gave Rondo layups without making him change directions, slow down, make a move etc. Unacceptable. He had a rough game. He's young so sometimes they have to go through this stuff. I still love the guy and would go to war with him, but last night's defensive effort was horrendous. He played the entire game like he had 5 fouls.

Mostly agree. One caveat. If the coach is dead set against fouling I don't see how you stop that break unless you harass the passer. Rondo travelled on the post up move. Hey he is a playoff rookie and seemed to play better in the second half.

Awful defense. You have to stop the ball or at least make the effort. He was letting him go right to the basket with no defense at all. I didn't mind the post ups but the full court drives with no effort to stop him - even in foul trouble you should be able to apply some pressure. His defense was ridiculus. Jefferies was much more effective but that leaves mismatchs else where. TD is going to have to do better and I think he will.

I don't know, I haven't heard D'Antoni speak about Td's defense but I think their focus is to force Rondo to take jumpers, not to avoid fouling him. With him shooting 57% from the line a few well placed fouls probably would have done us well. And if D'Antoni was so worried about fouls why wouldn't he give AC more time? I hear what you are saying but I just don't think Douglas did anything to deter Rondo. At least make him change direction, funnel him to help defenders, stop the ball. Something besides raising your arms and playing David Lee D.

I do agree with you that he will continue to get better. He's one guy I'm not worried about in that regard.

I just hope that people will like me

He did that 2 straight times down the floor in the first quarter and got whistled for a foul the next time the Celts had the ball, after Rondo decided to reset, it made no sense.

Turiaf yelled at TD in the 4th for not extending his forearm and making it tougher for Rondo to get to the rim.

I still believe he is one of the hardest working players on the team but if it doesn't get much better than this from TD in the playoffs.....

If he and Nate Robinson teamed up for the Circus it truly would be the greatest show on earth.

Mathematical Formula for this player goes as follows

Toney Douglas exponent 10 of Nate X Caught Up In Life X AJ Price X JJ Barrea divided by Jamal Crawford=Do Not Want To Watch Him Anymore

Pure crap and pure hatter. Googling your posts I haven't seen where you said a nice thing about anyone on the team...Why do you watch?

Loved Chandler

Respected Felton's game as I do Billups when he's not in bait for fouls mode

Wanted Moz to succeed and get a real chance....not a half steppin Heat Wave one

Didn't care for Gallo's game but had respect for some things he did well

I do not slam Amar'e although didn't want him as much as others during the summer(major concerns on defense/rebounding/overall effort). He's made good on some things while here namely leadership

I doubted Melo's character and approach to playing this game, didn't want to trade for him as I felt he was more quitter/derailer than one who fights the struggle but could stomach picking him up as a Free Agent if it was possible. I've given him props for proving me wrong and called him SPECIAL last night.

I like Fields(called him VET almost all year) I am perplexed at his fall off but haven't slammed him

I don't slam Turiaf thinks he plays hard as he can

I'm cool with Purp although he's become somewhat of a coach binkie

I like Brown/Carter and think Shelden has something to offer

Edit: forgot to add Bill Walker....I like the kid. He had a rough game yesterday but once again I was not of those who bashed him for going 0-11. Matter of fact didn't even know he did until so many of ye faithful brought it up. I wanted him to start this year in efforts to balance out our starters and bench.

There's really only 2 players I dislike and they are Douglas and Effries and I don't like the coach. Roger Mason does not exist to me a complete forgotten memory. I used to fan Douglas until I realized he may not be as TEAM oriented of a player as desired.

Well I took a bunch of crap at work today about TD. But not one of them had anything to say when I asked them if they wanted to take the Celtics straight up Friday.

I couldn't bring myself to trash Jeffries really. He's out there giving a good effort on defense. Would I rather had Turiaf in there the last minute yeah. But he was limping earlier.

All I've ever heard said or read about Douglas in many years, your the first I ever heard call him me first.

Some prankster stole Toney Douglas' underwear from his locker, forcing him to conduct his postgame interview wearing only a towel.

Douglas fingered Amare Stoudemire as the most likely suspect, and if Douglas' hunch is correct, then Stoudemire should be sentenced to a week of fetching the same Krispy Kreme donuts that Douglas had to fetch back when he was a rookie.

Why?

Because this was a night when Douglas absolutely undressed the opposing point guard, Chris Paul, who is supposedly in line to take over the playmaking duties in New York by the time the fall of 2012 rolls around.

The Knicks are cautiously optimistic that the veteran point guard will be available at some point in the series but privately many in the organization feel he needs at least a week to recover.

This is last years news but no less pertinent
Not only was Rajon Rondo named to the NBA’s First Team All-Defense, but he also received the second-most votes for the team behind Dwight Howard.

Rondo absolutely, 100%, no doubt about it, deserved the recognition. Yeah Rondo sometimes gambles too often, but he is a more disruptive defender than any other guard in the league. He covers an incredible amount of ground in a matter of split-seconds and can take a team entirely out of its offense with his propensity for steals. He’s as fast as point guards come, has defensive instincts normal humans could only dream of, and the best part about all those steals he picks up is that they turn into points going the other way.

http://www.celticstown.com/2010/05/05/rajon-rondo-named-to-nbas-first-team-all-defense/

If TD starts he will be playing against one of the best defenders in the NBA

Just a decent performance against Rondo would equate to all star level play.
