Amar'e statistically but Zach proved to have as great of impact if not more than Amar'e on his team. Zach's game has evolved some in that it is more team oriented but it took a structure and overall team disciplining to get him there. Some players need complete structure and not what you would call organized chaos.

Amare played very well but I'm not sure he had a better season statistically. Zach had an exceptional season and deserved this extension.

Numbers are Numbers

Amare has a slight edge if you look them up. Zach was 20/12 Amar'e was 25/8. Both 50%fg Amar'e better in blks/ast/fta/ft%/3pt%/PER but like I said Zach's impact was huge. He was carrying his team down the stretch while Amar'e was fading. No biggie Zach got himself together getting back to being a winning type player good for him.

It depends on how you analyze the numbers. If you go by their win shares, which I think is the best evaluation system, Zach was well ahead of Amare this year. (Amare's 2nd half of the season hurt his numbers a lot.) Career-wise, Amare has been well ahead of Zach though.
This article on win shares is very helpful. http://dberri.wordpress.com/2006/11/17/a-comment-on-the-player-efficiency-rating/
I'm convinced PER doesn't do anything other than statistically summarize people's lay understanding of the game (which is that PPG is the most important stat and efficiency is of little importance).

Zach is not a fluke, but nor was he our solution.

sounds like he's got plenty of money to spend on unpaid strip-club bills now.

what did this team win, 40 something games? is overrated season.

is no fluke, he is consistent 20/10 guy, but the success, overhyped, is better word.

look for memphis to descend to obscurity next season, with big fat extension in place.

I'll say this, 4 year contracts for marriage sounds about right.

he is a good player always has been

if you r going to like guys like Lee, Love, etc., he does everything they do but is a beast in the post

he would have been great next to Stat since we badly need a rebounder

anyways he is not goign anywhere now till 2 years from now when the griz suck and want to rebuild again and are lookin to dump his deal

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Most players get traded towards the end of there contract weather the team is good or not..if your not a title contender then u always need to tweek the roster..if they had let zack walk, there wasn't that many options for them especially with a mystery of a cba...it was the right thing to do
