Thibodeau's style works in college but isnt going to work longterm in Chicago.

Did the Spurs tune out Popovich in the entire Tim Duncan era? Did the Knicks and Lakers tune out Riley and Jackson?

wow... so now Thibodeau is Pop, Riley and Jackson? Thibodeau isnt even Rick Carlisle yet. Easy fella. He's had a good REGULAR season.

He still cant get Rose to play defense

Just indicating to Anubis that defensive minded coaches DON'T HAVE TO get tuned out the way Skiles has.

They all have rings, easy fella.

I dont see Popovich constantly yelling at his team from the sidelines.

The great coaches know when to yell and when not too. If you yell all the time you are going to get tuned out.

I see Pop yelling all the time, and boy do they listen.

no but just as many do... you cant say that one kind of coach gets tuned out more than others can you? NO coach is successful if the players dont buy in, regardless of what they are selling.

easy fella.

I'm not saying Thibodeau cant be long lasting. I'm saying he is going to have to tone it down to last in this league.

Riley and Jax don't yell a lot. Not all yellers get tuned out.

Having leadership does matter. Timmy stayed with Pop and it works. C'mon man, there are many ways to succeed.

Thibs held out for the right job and was smart. Nobody says he sucks, just not proven in playoffs.

Bulls are playing very well and he is a very good coach.

We can't have him now. Whats the point again?

Most players aren't sissies like us. The great ones don't mind being yelled at. They just want to be treated fairly. If you treat your players fairly you can stab them and they won't tune you out. The guys that lose their players lose them because They yell for yelling sake. I've sat behind popovich and he is never happy. He gets on T.Parker all the time. He yells at Duncan all the time. Guys like Parcells and Jackson have called their players names in public on a regular basis. Gusy don't tune them out becuase they are fair and most importantly their superstars buy in. After that, the yelling is just coaching and guys take it and laugh about it with the coach afterwards.

So when we beat Chicago was it only cuz they were down one of their key players? How about the fact that we were down one of our key players last night? I don't think it had anything to do with that, but we did beat the Bulls under similar circumstances as they beat us yesterday. I don't see any superiority of their approach to ours when we play them head to head. In fact they just got lucky that we weren't hitting shots the way we usually do. They weren't shutting our attack down with their defense, which is why even tho we MISSED the open shot that Thibs called a timeout over, he recognized that it was an OPEN shot that we usually hit. The Bulls don't want to see the Knicks anymore than the other East teams do, cuz more often than not our offense works and it makes us tough to beat. Last night was the one bad offensive game in the last 7 wins. I'll take that ratio.

I'll take my chances playing this way cuz I believe that superior offense beats great defense. Much as you can't stop Rose, MJ, Kobe when they're on their game. I don't believe that in a spread offense that the Bulls can consistently stop Melo, STAT, Billups and TD. They have one guy that can't be stopped completely but we have several guys that can't be stopped completely. It puts tremendous pressure on the Bulls D and that's why we beat them. I don't think they can get lucky enough that we have more than one bad shooting game in a series. On MOST NIGHTS Melo is a terror, as is STAT and Billups and TD. The Celtics have much more credibility in terms of showing they can stop us rather than the Bulls.

I disagree with this. I think when you have an opponent that plays lock down defense on you you need to be able to counter by keeping them from scoring. The Bulls went on their run in the third quarter because the Knicks couldn't stop them and they couldn't score. You can't out offense a great defense, play poor defense and expect to have any kind of consistent success against a team. I think that is where the Knicks will struggle in the post season. I think that is where D'Antoni can start to show what kind of a coach he is. If his team comes in prepared to play both ends of the court and it is obvious that they have prepared for the Celtics and what they like to do on offense I will be very impressed. If they come in with the philosophy that the Celts have to adjust to their running, shooting threes and playing small I will hope the Knicks get past 5 games in the series.

I think he was referring to the Knicks going from 26th in the league to 25th in opp FG%.
