Amare just gets a lot of weak side blocks because he always gambles and it creates the illusion that he takes pride in defense.Had Lee not been injured early in the season the Warriors would have a very similar record with the Knicks. He did come into the Garden and play STAT head to head and lead his team to victory.
I don't think his stats were empty and the Knicks were better this season at every position. Playing with Felton and Billups and having Fields is a big difference to playing with Harrington and Duhon and dealing with Larry Hughes.
Amare gets a slight edge on D because they play the same position and those blocks are more meaningful.Neither D. Lee nor Amare really guard the paint, but Amare does come with some timely blocks while D. Lee is matador D all day.
D. Lee is probably thee most over rated Knick of the last decade. Exhibit A:

Lee is all we needed to be at the top of the conference? Really? David Lee?
I'm willing to bet that whatever you're smoking...is the really good stuff.
you missed the whole point. The point is it wasnt Lee that was broken with that team. Keep the guy that put up 20/10/55% every night and upgrade SF, SG, PG and pair him with a star big like Amare and you have something.
I agree with what he said.. especially in a SSOL a guy who rebounds like Lee and shoots well over 50% would have been a great piece, and Lee would have been like the 3rd best player their anyway.
Think about it... its the same line up we had earlier that was playing VERY well for stretches and beat a lot of top teams. Except you move Chandler to the bench and start Lee at the 4. Pretty solid. It would have been interesting to see at least.
